I think one mistake VRChat made from the beginning was using +18 groups and ERP groups to share links to verify accounts. Needless to say, ERP is now allowed in VRCHAT, but the problem is that now there will be 11 year olds and +18 people in the same game wanting to do +18 things (and other things), and the worst thing is that anyone underage will be verified without the +18, what you can see is that children are now joining these groups to have their age verified and not to mention that the data of these children is being used by companies that are being sued for breaching people's data

There are a lot of things wrong with this age verification, I think it's necessary but the way they're doing it is ♥♥♥♥, and the first is using +18 groups and ERP to do this advertising, as far as I know ERP is prohibited with perma ban so why were these groups the first to have the +18 verification?

To have a verified account with +18 or just age verified you need to have access to these groups and I don't even need to say that this is a problem

When the Persona badge is not verified they will get kicked out of the 18+ verified group

People, read up the official announcements from VRChat on how things work, don't just believe anything people say that don't understand how Persona works and how VRChat will use Persona

Some friends of mine were sharing the groups where people were able to do this verification procedure, luckily I took some photos but I don't know if it would be safe to show an ERP group with 19102 people...

I actually managed to join an ERP +18 group on VRChat and tried to get the link they provided to get verified, but it was already gone. In this case, it is a public group that anyone can join.

They put it in the form of a link tree on websites that organise social network links, YouTube, Twitter and Instagram are listed and then the link for persona verification, it varies from group to group but that's how they're doing it. but in all of them you need to join the group either on discord or vrchat

The funny thing is that since I took the photo, the group on VRChat has grown by 1000 people.

I must be really missing the plot here. The goal was never to just ban all the adults from being adults with age verification. The whole point was to keep kids out of instances where adults might be doing adult things. Only verified accounts get in, that's the whole point.

So yeah, of course 18+ groups are going to get verification links for the beta. They're the ones that it was made for. Places that want to keep kids out. If kids join the group and try to verify, they're frankly stupid. They can't participate and it's safe to assume the group will host all of its instances as 18+. So all the crotch goblins won't be getting anywhere by joining these groups.

like if there's nothing wrong then it's all good, obviously if a child puts their original ID they will only get age verified but to get +18 they need to have a minimum compatible date of birth, just the fact that the child tries to join these groups and interact to get these links to pass this type of data would be wrong but if this type of interaction is so normal then this post is useless

Verification requires submitting ID, plus liveness detection to confirm the ID belongs to the person submitting it. If you're not 18+, then you're not getting verified as 18+.

There is only one minor case of Persona getting sued, and it appears to have been resolved in Persona's favour. VRChat's contract with Persona is also completely different to the one in that case with DoorDash.

I wouldnt be surprised if this is true or not. Regardless, ERP avatars should be banned entirely. I would ban the use for them if i was the head of VRC. Really now tired having to censor people's avatars (which not every one knows about that feature) because only God knows some one on your VRC "friends" list has a ERP avatar that ends up using it to traumatize you.

I would also ban the highly sexually suggestive (perferably the some of the E girl and Eboy) avatars as well. I honestly dont know how to talk to people like a normal human being when someone is wearing a very sus Rule 34 looking avatar. Like do people want to wear highly sexually suggestive clothing in real life and talk to people in like a every day normal conversation? It really doesnt make sense to me....

Point is, there needs to be trust with people in the VRC community, This game almost has none of that even in the SFW spaces. There needs to be more accountability for people who takes those ERP actions, private or not i really dont care. I honestly think ERP has no place to be in Vrchat.

If people want to ERP or do highy sexually suggestive stuff in VR, go ahead make an Unity game, and get a unity license and post it on steam or your discord group or something. Its more easier to make a game these days compared to back then. I see Vrchat as a social game to meet diverse people around the world, i dont see this as a pron anti social game. Its honestly sad and dystopian when kids are getting traumatized by this ERP phenomena and not that many people and even politicians talking about this. And i honestly think making ERP avatars isnt "Creative Freedom" whens its used to harm people.

I had to warn my little brother to be careful playing this game as the same with my 2 little cousins because they got Meta quest 2 for their birthday. I shouldnt be have to be doing this for a game that doesnt explicitly advertise to you on the Steam and Meta quest store page about this game having Adult content.

Because parents dont want to parent these days. So the government has to get involved in parent. Purely a Cyberpunk dystopia we live in....
