I'm in my mid 30's and I hang out with other adults around the same age, the average gamer is around this age, and given the amount of adults who play this game to drink and socialize with other adults, I'd say it's not weird at all.

According to google, the bell curve of “average video game players” centers around people in their 20s with 14% being between 34-40. I assume the Steam-based demographic of VRChat follows that statistic. I’ve met 50+ year-old users in the game so I don’t think 30+ users are uncommon.

Quest users, on the other hand, I think are, on average, a younger audience but this is based on what I’ve personally seen.

Ain't wired even if you are 70, it's just a game, play whenever you want and do whatever you like. Just don't mess up your reallife for that. I assume most of the player in Vrchat are friendly, they probably won't care to ask you about how old you are or even if they know they won't care at all.

Trash game. I have 8,000 hours in it, so trust my experience. The game is packed with weirdos, people with fake mental health issues , and people who seem genuinely brain damaged. Public lobbies are filled with degenerates doing questionable things, kids playing Nazis and trying to crash you, and the rest are hypersensitive cringe people who get offended by anything that doesn’t fit their worldview.

Unless you're there to troll them and make them cry (which is ridiculously easy, considering their parents clearly dindt cared about those people), it's better to just delete it.

You'll only find the worst of the worst in there.

52 years old here and love my VRChat, plus I know about 5 or 6 other 50+ year old users, one being 68 years old. Unfortunately, I've met too many that says this is only for "young people." It's sad that this is the mindset of the world now, where people think older and younger can't interact.

The trick to VRchat is that while public worlds can be fun , they're a bit too full of kids , your best bet is through group or friend+ worlds .
To get you started , one thing might be to check out Ancients of VRChat , which is a group for +18s that organises activities etc and at the very least is a good way to build up a friend group closer to your own age , you'll need to join the discord server to join the VR chat group , but while the Discord is the main place things are organised , you dont need to use it again if you dont want to (full disclosure , I founded it as a discord server few years back , although other people do all the actual work there now and I claim the glory )
