People who fake phantom pain
Why do you do it? To feel special or just for a joke or to get attention for it?

It's just weird.

inb4 "uhmmm.. Actually phantom pain is very real and..."
Not it's not. Get real.

Well yes but no

Yes it's a real thing but no the 900% increase of people claiming to have it is like the rest of the TikTok self diagnosed fad that's going on to get attention or get out of responsibilities

Don't just lump in the kids who want attention with the war veterans that lost arms and legs

They're just a bad roleplayer, simple as that. If you had such case, would you step your feet on the red zone and risk a mental breakdown? If you had common sense, I bet you wouldn't. That's pretty much like having broken arm and instead keeping yourself off the cliff, you jump off it anyway to see if your arm really broken. Although curiosity tend to kill common sense so there's still small chance people with actual phantom pain did play VRC and waive the health and safety warning given.

Btw, phantom pain is real thing and scientifically proven. You can find those symptom on war veteran mostly or any people who suffer heavy injury and live. What you just encounter is not people with phantom pain. That's just a snowflake who will likely link anything to phantom pain for attention or to weasel their way out of bad gaslight attempt they started mostly.

I have a solution that should reconcile everyone to feeling the sensation of phantom pain! :Milli::emote_lantern:

I think it's autism, and I think most of them believe what they are selling.

It is but isnt its called the placebo effect, where say this "this cough drop will make me cough less" and you feel like your coughing less but its just a mind trick

ok your mixxing up phantom sense and touch which is part of the sense family in a way but usually what happens is the touch on the avatar when your in the zone brain goes brrr and simulates it usually if some one looms over your form and see their shadow it suddenly feels like they are right behind you in the real world. hand on shoulder if can see the avatars hand reaching over around your back in VR and see it touching left shoulder your body will reconise what your ment to feel and feel that.

I mean. you could argue, i have a sort of "Phantom phantom pain", going more so in the category of:
You hit me, i go ow, just simply as a reaction about it from the fly
But i know, i'm actually not in pain, i just simply reacted to it.

Though the entire "actually feeling pain" thing, i don't fully get either.

phantom pain is a real thing basically their brains are too stupid to realise whats happening in the game isnt real life so they feel the touch of whatever happens or in other words they are super autistic

that is not how phantom pain works the mind is being tricked but does not mean autistic or stupid mind. like seeing searing metal and getting touched by a pop sickle or ice the extream temps at the state it can burn or freeze the nerves the pain would be the same at that extreame. doesnt mean the brains stupid means the sensation same. if the sensation of being touched on the avatar say the hand or arm would match what yoru used to feeling on the arm your going to faintly feel it

how did you read that and think i was serious about any of it?

Phantom pain is not real. When people say it's a real medical thing that's for people missing limbs phantom sense is just the brain being tricked by vr and re creating something. Pain happens in response to a direct stimulus it's why actual missing limb phantom pain is an un explainable phenomenon

Objectively scientifically wrong. Pain works on entierly different receptors then touch every single person in vrc claiming phantom pain is making it up for attention. This is incredibly obvious when you look at pre 2020 vrc and litteraly not a single person ever mentioned it then people on social media learned the term phantom pain exists and since it looks like phantom sense they assume it's the same thing

This post is insanely ignorant btw we can observe phantom sense irl. Flip your tounge in your mouth and touch the side and you feel it on the other side or that feeling of being watched. Those are irl instances of the same mechanics that create phantom sense in vr working irl.

Outside of missing limb phantom pain has never been recorded and imaginary pain is either seen as extreme delustional . Or made up as a cry for help or attention. This is literally a case of drama queens wanting attention and making up something.

If you take a knife and go to stab your self but miss at the last second your brain does not fill in the gap like it does with touch since senses are part anticipation where as pain is 100% reactionary.
