My avatars show up as an error bot

As the title suggests: I recently bumped into an issue where my avatar fails to load and instead shows up as an error bot.

Is there a way to fix this...? (I'm on PC btw)

Provided you didn't make it, then I'd guess it's just too old.
But more information had been nice (where did you find it, what is it like, is it 2.0 or 3.0)
If you really want it fixed but do not have the knowledge to do so, can always look around on Fiverr for avatar fixers. ...Provided it needs fixing and it's not just a setting thing gone wrong.

If you didn't upload it yourself there is a decent chance the uploader took it down. This usually happens to models that got uploaded as public against the direct wish of the creator of the original model.

If you are showing up as an error bot with a yellow error circle on the chest it means, if its a public model, the model has been taken down by the creator. you can always easily find a new one I promise you!

I'm using a private (3.0) avatar so neither can be the case

Edit: I feel like it's also worth noting that this very issue occurs when switching to any avatar.

I've tried verifying/repairing my game files but even that didn't seem to solve the issue...

Did you get to solve this issue? I'm having the same problem as of a few weeks ago and I can't seem to find a fix it

it's nothing you can do, I had the same problem and i just had to wait. i could use my favorited avatars but none of mine, even ones that are years old at this point. was fixed the next day

Its either got deleted by the author, or just a bad cache or network problem when connecting to VRC database. I had one of those avatar who loaded as error bot in avatar list, but it doesn't show as such when actually used. I ask others if they see me as error bot on instances and they said my avatar did shows as intended despite it shown as error bot on avatar list. Weird.
