**Phantomsux’s VRChat Experience – The Worst Place to Meet People**
Phantomsux shares their "very little" experience with VRChat and their thoughts on the toxic community that exists within the game.
**Initial Experience**
Phantomsux first tried VRChat in January 2022 but didn’t get into it much after that. They weren’t into social games, so they focused on action games. VRChat didn’t seem appealing at the time.
**The Rise of VRChat**
Fast forward to 2024, and VRChat started popping up on social media with videos of trolling and offensive behavior. People took trolling too seriously, which made Phantomsux start questioning the community.
**The "Phantom Sense" Craze**
Videos of players claiming to have "phantom sense" (feeling sensations in VR) became more common. However, Phantomsux believes this is taken too seriously and can be unhealthy if overdone, especially since some people try to make it a 24/7 experience.
**Mirror Dwellers**
Phantomsux encountered "mirror dwellers" – players who sit in front of a mirror with loud music and stay muted. When they tried to engage, they got blocked for no reason, which left them puzzled as to why these players chose public spaces if they didn’t want to interact.
**Toxic Communities**
Phantomsux’s friend joined a "stoner" community where NSFW content was streamed to minors, despite the community being 18+. In another instance, Phantomsux and a friend joined a furry world dressed as Mordecai and Rigby, only to be kicked out for no reason. The furry community can be fun, but some members take it far too seriously.
**VRChat Dating**
Dating in VRChat is where things get really strange. Phantomsux witnessed 32-year-olds dating 16-year-olds based on avatars, not real personalities. One of their friends, Max, got involved in a 16-year-old/21-year-old relationship. This led Phantomsux to stop being friends with Max, as they felt it was inappropriate.
**The Toxicity of VRChat**
The VRChat community is filled with racist, sexist, and homophobic behavior. It’s hard for Phantomsux to connect with players who don’t share their values, and the community often thinks offensive behavior is funny when it’s not.
**Final Thoughts**
VRChat is a tough place to find decent people. Phantomsux suggests playing with friends and having fun in private worlds to avoid the negativity. While they don’t want to hate on all players, they feel that those who engage in toxic behavior need to reflect on themselves and improve.

if people saying they have phantom sense, or being a furry, or people just sitting in front of a mirror bothers you, then you should probably start looking inward as there's clearly underlying issues
except for all the other possible places you could be
