same issue you're describing here. got an idea when it happened the first time? tried it yesterday for the first time in a while and it wouldn't let me get past logging in. just VOID and then timeout. asking because it's either express or a new vrc update.
a mate who uses "ExpressVPN v10.0.9 (2)_release" doesn't have that issue. I'll try to rollback my version and test it, then I'll get back to you
wild guess but are you trying to connect from germany by any chance? we know they ♥♥♥♥ up the internet every now and then with obscure laws.
the reason i got the VPN in the first place was certain movie worlds not properly loading anymore (servers either blocked by my ISP or germany itself) and now it's completely useless ^^'
steam is alot smarter about locations and can't be easily fooled with a VPN.
idk why it would conflict but if you got VRC and steam linked i guess it's just telling you "NO". idk WHY it would do that, but that's the only connection of our common problem as express can be ruled out after my mate testing it and not having the issue
I'm still convinced it's linked to the newest changes to german steam due to laws
which one did you test?
it's just weird that this is the first post about this. if it was affecting more people you'd think there'd be more posts about it in here. i know alot of people who use VPN's for public rooms
Note : only if your router is supported. If not, do consider purchase a commercial grade router or better.
Note2 : Better to have two router, one for local, another for VPN.
my router has a VPN function, but the thing is i use the VPN to be able to watch movies and series in certain worlds where the servers are blocked or impaired by germany. so using my router's VPN won't do ♥♥♥♥ for me + i paid good money for my VPN and i won't trash it just because VRC/steam/germany decides to be an ass about it
ExpressVPN is a high profile services. But because of "being" a high profile and well-known. It is usually being plague with constantly being target to be block first from many censorship. 2weeks work, a few day dead, and this playing catch will keep going on forever.
Your best bet is to try using a low profile services but high standard comparable or greater than ExpressVPN that is less likely to be block.
But all in all, if say, block thingy decided from user filling billing address info or credit card issuer, the bank. where it will tell physical info which country you're from (ie: Google store method) and you registered with it.
Just because of your filling info/setting it has been decided where your app client will be connected through which region server. With this then, none of the VPN method would help you get bypass it. This is just an example of how it work in common. If you want to roam freely and bypass strictly country. Be sure to eliminate all of the evident which is on user end.
Open the ExpressVPN app, click on the top left corner, go to Options -> Protocol and select OpenVPN UDP. As far as I know it's as safe as Lightway and the usual VPN method. I also get a good 500 MBps speed with it so that shouldnt be an issue.
they changed alot of stuff with how protocols were handled etc so as shin said before it worked for a while changing from lightway to OpenVPN UDP. don't know if it still does.
