What happened to the movie and chill world?

You can still play movies as long as you Dropbox the video and then link from Dropbox to the player. Sure casual viewing is out but organized movie nights can still take place. Kind of wish there was a way to stream directly from Plex as my media library is pretty large.

The convenient pill: VRChat bad

The less convenient pill: The bill came due on violating DMCA in full view of everyone and things got real dicey after the econ update. Also the lesser known fact of the world was suspected to be harvesting every form of data from every user that came in. Data that includes but is not limited to; avatar, position, movie watched and for how long, and a *lot* of other things. Only VRChat is allowed to collect data after all, it's in their TOS and everyone knows you shouldn't break the rules.

It started becoming corporate when they implemented EAC, now it's just going further down the rabbit hole.

Sounds to me that sitting with a friend in VR would fall under private use same as if I invited someone to my IRL home. Copyright law is so friggin' outdated for the 21st century.
I get they don't want everyone to stream anything, but if I have a Plex library where my own DVDs and Blurays are stored which I bought with my money then where's the bloody difference if I invite someone to my home or watch it in a private VRChat lobby? Yeah, I know, technically I'm streaming the movie through the web then and that's transmitting the data blablabla. All I hear when someone explains this technicality is "outdated and proud of that!"

is not so much that people were using it, it was that the world was hosting the movies.

Would be great if movie worlds would go with a browser interface so we can just go to the Plex website, log in and then watch our own media that way.

I like the implications that pedos get banned on vrchat. They have an anti-nsfw rule yet its barely if not at all enforced. Do you think a service like this cares if an adult diddles kids on their service if it doesnt get reported beyond the report button ingame?
