thing is the streaming worlds like movie and chill is not true piracy one could buy all the movies digitise them and stream them for free as they own rights of use type stuff.

that is absolutely not how that works

when you buy a movie (or any media) you're only buying the rights to private personal use, any kind of distribution outside of that whatsoever is legally piracy. even if it's just a screenshare on discord or something. obviously no one's gonna care or even notice on a small scale but 24/7 being on the front trending page made this an inevitability

The timing of them implementing in-game currency and them nuking beloved movie worlds is staggering. There was clearly an agenda here. They did the same thing when they added EAC last year: Removed accessibility and quality-of-life mods and introduced their own versions as if the ideas were theirs all along. It's starting to become a corporate mindset with their decisions, and as you said, I think it's time to find another VR platform.

It was going to happen eventually no matter what direction VRC headed. That kind of thing can't last forever, but what this does hint towards is that VRC is now too mainstream to fly under the radar.
Big companies are finding out about this little niche settlement hiding under the shadow of the 'metaverse', helped by the developers who'd love for big corporate daddy to scoop them up.
