Age Restrictions

This update was good until the content gating, and I will explain why so.

1) Horror is now banned for anyone less than 18. HORROR

2) It is the creator's option to add these tags. They can falsely add the limitations because "They don't want minors in their game." This feature can be abused greatly, not only on worlds but also avatars.

3) Groups can be even more limiting, even if it has no age restrictions. The creators can now make group instances that are banned for people less than 18.

4) There is no way to change your age once you enter it in. If someone enters their year wrong, this update can affect them greatly.

5) People who are 18+ can abuse their non-blocked avatars. Since 18+ can still see their avatars, they can put on certain toggles (you know you know) without the person under 18 seeing or knowing.

I've always seen this game as hanging out and playing fun games with friends. Now, my outlook has quickly changed. This feels more like an 18+ game with the path it is taking.

This update is going to permanently alter the game for good, especially for the people under the age of 18.

Good ol' 2017/2018 times, where Kids were basically not a thing at all in VRChat. It only started with the entire Quest thingy.

I agree that the update is horrible, Both for Paid Subscriptions, and Allowing 18+ Content to be more freely accessible (because now they are going to allow it in public regardless)

The toxic Adults hating on Children (cussing, assaulting, belittling, etc as well as wanting children gone simply for the ability to have NSFW things) is ruining the community.

Adults would block children just because they existed, and now VRChat staff seem to be advocating for that as well.

In my opinion Adults should be able to control their urges for NSFW and be able to actually be role models for children... But maybe most people are just evil and selfish.

With only VRC+ as a monetary thing most of it was fine except groups. Now I see primarily NSFW/Inappropriate type groups and abusive "moderators" in group instances. But for VRC+ it wasn't so bad, and VRChat didn't seem to have such a bad agenda for users.

BUT This update is to divide the community further and promote more of a prejudiced based on ages, money, and trust rank (These were already a thing because age-nsfw, money-fbt, and trust rank-trusted were already things to provide a rift... But that MINOR thing is going to get so much worse primarily for age and money. Perhaps only Trusted Users should be able to sell or make money due to scams though IDK).

P.S. To you people saying "Finally we can keep THEM out/get rid of them".... So Shameful!!! You are treating Children so poorly. Very shameful behavior.

i understand where your coming from but half the time adults hanigng out with kids that arnt related kinda dont look too great and half the time get called names for that sort of thing, the age gate is definitely blocking more than it should but it should improve minor safety

Its not even the NSFW part its because people dont look too great hanging out with younger people like a 27 year old hanging out with a 16 year old from an outside prospective, its kinda weard and assumtions can be made, plus younger audiences typicaly dont have the same humor and can annoy some people really quick

Im in favour of removing all children from vrchat in general.. back in the day i'd say all quest users but now the majority are using quests rather than wired setups.. still though am liking the new updates and hope there's more like it in the future.

You really can't act like VRChat doesn't primarily cater to adults. From nightclubs, strip clubs and drinking games, to the heavy drinking culture of the adult userbase. Most of us 'old people' come on here to have 'old people' fun with other 'old people'. So yeah, we're gonna ♥♥♥♥♥ about kids being on the platform.

I have ZERO problem with kids being on the platform, as long as they're kept out of clearly adult worlds. If I'm getting drunk and partying in a night club I don't want to be worrying about how I behave in case a minor happens to be in the lobby who most definitely should NOT be mingling with adults who are under the influence of alcohol.

The age gating needs to happen if we're going to reach any kind of reasonable compromise between letting kids on the platform and making sure they're not exposed to strictly adult things.

If you really think anything about being around drunk or even high on drugs adults is okay for a child, or that they can visit worlds where people literally pole dance in skimpy avatars, let your parents know what kinda things you do on VRC, because I assume they don't monitor what you're doing online nearly as much as they should and they'd absolutely LOVE to hear about this.

And again, to reiterate: I'm not saying kids need to be banned from the platform. But the adults deserve to do their adult things away from minors. Yes, private worlds are a thing but you can't make new friends without swimming through the cesspit of public lobbies, and for us adults that's currently like navigating a minefield because of how many children have flocked to the platform.

it does not cater to adults. almost all the adult ♥♥♥♥ is against tos as it should be. besides if your stripping in vr you clearly aren't in the right mind. other than that i agree with most your points such as being under the influence and such. places that are adult should be kept adult only but i dont count horror or places with "suggestive language" as somewhere to keep kids away from

I said 'strip clubs' not 'stripping'.
"FBT Heaven" is one of the more popular worlds on VRC and it's primarily people dancing 'sensually' around poles or providing lap dances. Typically in skimpy but not necessarily "nude" avatars. Technically not breaking TOS but also not a place for a minor to be mingling.
