Yes people are sometimes trigger happy on the mute. Typically if someone stumbles into a conversation, others just only want to converse with a few selected people and mute others by default to turn off the random chatter.
Really if someone muted you though for no reason. I don't think they are worth your time to hassle about. I wouldn't think they be much of the friendly kind to begin with if they did that.
I can't personally recall ever being blocked or muted by anyone, but then again, I also don't scream into my mic, harass other users, nor do anything that would lead to someone reporting me. What I'm saying here is, most of what you get out of VRChat in large part depends upon what you put into it. If you're chill and get along well with others, you'll at least be much more likely to have a great time with it --on the other hand, if you use VRChat to try to annoy other users because they're not giving you the attention that you feel you deserve, then you're likely to find VRChat to be very frustrating.
Anyway, that's just my observation, so I encourage you to seek other opinions --but consider also that for any one given world, there are usually several instances of it. If you're being muted by a group of people in a given instance, go to another instance. If you see a pattern of being muted everywhere you go on VRChat, then the problem isn't them, it's you.
Now like I say, this is just to inform. I don't know you at all, so I have no opinion about you either way, but I do know that most things in life have both a cause and an effect, that seldom anything happens 'just because'. Now granted, some people are just generally mean, but think about it... what would generally lead an absolute stranger to censor someone they've never met? 9 out of 10 of the answers will likely be because the person being censored did something that was ill received and reacted upon.
Problems are:
- kids screaming their lungs out in their microphone set to the maximum level.
- Peoples forcing their crap music on everybody around
- Peoples with awfull echo/larsen because they dont use a headphone.
- Pepoples using cancer avatars with ear rape features.
- Having no way to have a normalizing filter to set everybody's audio output at the same level.
- Peoples using any form of harrassement.
- Peoples being annoying.
- Peoples recklessly interfering in others conversations
- Peoples with a broken/garbage microphone that dont use a noise filtering software and flood you with parasites.
- And of course any combination of the above.
P.S.: Had forgotten a few:
- Peoples who keep their microphone open while eating potato chips or drinking soda and then....
- "peoples" who burp in their microphone. Didnt have the case of one farting or throwing up in his microphone yet, but I wouldnt be surprised if it also happen....
- Peoples who keep talking during the movie in theater worlds (for those who stand in front of the screen, block is the best option).
- And of course peoples you realize have muted you for some reasons.
If they cant ear you, there's no point earing them either (or seeing them altogether, so block).
other wise the reasons mentioned, i have a habbit of muting , or hiding avatar for annoying full screen animations, if i do both its equal to a block, i dont like making ghosts to annoy me later
One time I got blocked by a random guy in the pug and he refuses to unblock me because I wouldn't give personal information to him about myself, no skin off my back the creep ain't getting anything that I don't feel comfortable sharing directly from me.
Most of the time I mute (mostly block) people because they just come to us (having maybe a philosophical discussion) and just be "HEY, HEY, HEY, GIVE ME ATTENTION".
I don't mind if people want to join a conversation, I actually do like that, as I've met many interesting people like that. But do know your manners. If you join a conversation, you listen at first and don't just rudly interrupt.
I don't know what it is these days, but I learned NOT to do things like that as a kid many moons ago.
If you get muted a lot, than it's most likely not the people but your behaviour which causes that. Think about it.
If you’re going to be an anti social pile of human garbage then go wallow in an empty private world and hate yourself alone don’t go into a public world and treat people like crap for no reason because you think the earth rotates around your hollow head.
