If I had a friend who would do this to me I would be annoyed, just ask them if they are interested to play with you, if they are and they ask you if next you play and to send them an invite, then do so. That's the way to go.

Btw I am almost in my 30's, so if you're young it could be different.

I just generally don't bother people if I can't just join them, unless i'm bored and not feeling public worlds then i'll request invites.

It's pretty normal to feel that way. But I think as long as you are being honest with yourself, and you have a mutual respect with your friends, it is fine to send out requests as you want. If someone can't see you, it's not a big deal to send a decline.

Don't send requests to people on red. They are... busy.

Don't send multiple requests unless you've gotten a "Please join me later" type response.

Use the message system with the requests. It's nice to clarify the mood and interaction you are looking for. The built in defaults are all good for this.

If someone doesn't respond, that is probably a "Thanks, but not right now."

If you feel weird about it, you can check in with your friend and just ask. Don't take it personally if someone needs to set a boundary. Don't feel bad about setting boundaries for yourself. We're all here to have a good time.

Just want to point out that sending requests to people on red is pointless, they don't get the request and also don't see it.

I dont understand this huge wave of using orange status, its like they are ashamed of something, feels weird. Green is for cuties

if your friend is a recent one or somebody you dont really know yet It would be wise not to use the request, unless they say to send it in their status

Personnaly, the reason why I use orange status is because a have a bunch of friends who don't like eachothers or don't mix well together; By staying orange, I can make sure they don't cause drama by seeing eachothers. Sometime, I want to be with some specific friends too and the friend that want to join is not at all with the vibe I'm in.

If someone send me a join request, if I have to refuse it, I use at least the "refuse with a reply"; i don't just refuse with no explaination.

I just join friends with green or above. Which is about... 10% of my friend list :p.

Allow me to give my 2 cents:
Blue = GO HAM!
Green = Join to hangout
Yellow = Request once, if they wanna hang, they will accept.
Red = NOPE!

Simple but effective, just request once, if the person is actually bothered by that, might wanna double check if they ARE an actual friend.

Honestly I just throw requests why else would they be on the friends list. I have had situations with several people, when a friend can invite, but they act like they can't, & they act like they invite you when they do not, & acts like your welcome by them, but you are not, that puts no effort in making you feel like your welcome when they play with anyone else that isn't you. now, if I request they don't respond and I join another friend if I see them I just plain out leave. there is one thing when their having a private conversation, but when their in a public game world yeah... My time is valuable if someone isn't able to invite me sometimes especially when they can and they act like nothing is wrong I will leave.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
