I’m scared of sharing my voice? Advice?
Hi... I feel like this is a common form but I wanted to be able to speak for myself, aha...

As a person with anxiety in general, I’m awful at socializing. I have no problem talking to friends, but I’m afriad that people will judge my voice because I sound so childish. I know that a ♥♥♥♥-ton of little kids play the game and I’d hate to be mistaken for one.. I know how to use a “loli” or “tsundere” voice but unfortunately, I know that it annoys my friends, and I’d hate to ruin it just because I’m too scared to use my natural voice.
I’m sorry, so far everything I’ve said is probably stupid..

Nah, you're okay. A lot of people don't like using their voice in VRChat. I've met many mute players, who just walk around, and sit there, and just listen to conversations. Most people who use VR are mute, from what I've seen, and just do funny things. Half of VRChat is socialization, though the PvP games are fun as well! If you don't like using your voice, you could always just play those games.

For socialization, nodding along, doing emotes, and following other players suffices in place of a voice.

As for the childish voice thing, most people don't mind younger players, as long as they're not annoying. I started using my voice in TF2 and stuff around 14/15, when my voice was still a squeaky mess, but I made sure never to be loud, or annoying. I just opened my mouth when i wanted to pitch in. I never got shamed, well, except for the times when I was actually being annoying, but I got better as I got older.

I know people with anxiety, so it's not as easy as saying 'don't be afraid'. I know theres plenty of depth to anxiety as a whole, but on a bright note, you're not obligated to use your voice, so thats a plus, right? I found that most people don't care, but no matter what, you've always gotta remember that there's gonna be someone, not all the time, but some points down the line who is a little less than understanding, but those people are far and inbetween, so I'd say not to worry about it, until you cross them. You're not obligated to be their friend, or talk with them either. You can always block em, and go to a new instance.

On a closing note, voicing your mind isn't stupid. Don't feel bad about it.

I know what you mean. I've been playing since November and only now am I using my voice. I'm 24 but people think I sound 14. Lol.
What I found is, if you have a mature or confident attitude, people don't care what your voice sounds like. Take small steps and slowly get more comfortable.

Ah, thank you so much!

Hey. It's okay. Don't worry. If you're worried about it, why don't you play this game with your friends? You won't have any access to weird people and you'll have a natural conversation with other people.

Have fun in vrchat.
