How to combat user's from Crashing you. (Open Discussion)
Edit: This was a year ago, Discussion might be outdated since the new updates in VRChat to address some of these problems.

Title.

Don't know if Staff of VRChat is aware of this problem, I'm pretty sure they are, but this is becoming unacceptable up to this point by how much of a problem this has increased for me, or not any word if anything is being done to deal with it. I don't know why, but I have had this happen several times just as of yesterday, which just triggered me to bring this up today since I'm ready to start a discussion for this.

I know there's method's of blocking them or set avatars to default, but it's more of a hassle doing so, but I guess if it's the only way, I guess I just might have to do it.

Is it even worth to report them? I've heard conversations of them using VPN's so they can't be traced. I have video evidence of one situation of someone walking up to me after I said sometimes to tell them to stop the EarBlasting as they walked up to me and crashing my game with an Error message.

Is it even worth for me to report it? It takes them less than 4 minutes to make a new account and continue on, meanwhile, it takes me longer just to edit a certain video segment, and quickly render it, then upload it.

I know people do this for good reasons to prevent the bad people from doing this or raid prevention, but for the people who use it as some abusive weapon, it's potential to cause problems as there are YouTube videos of 'Trolling' of them purposely crashing entire servers or rooms full of 30 people.

As I'm typing this right now I want to see or hear other's viewpoints about this, and if it has happened to them too or strategies on how to prevent this.

The only time I've seen someone stop was when someone threatened to call Tupper into the room. Then the person quickly changed avatars and stopped crashing people. It's getting annoying, and as either a hack or exploit of the SDK, it should have stronger consequences and better way to stop them..... I don't actually have any suggestions, but that's my 2 cents for the discussion

It is a real shame, because this title has so much promise to be something awesome, but the rampant hacking and trolling makes it really unpleasant at times.

I not played in while but reading about whats been happening makes me want to stay away from the game until something has been done about it.

Would be nice if the dev's would address the issue and let us know if they are going to do something about it.

I dont wanna see VRC die because a group of people think it's funny to ruin other users experience.

IP banning people for game crashing could be effective.
Maybe even an option to turn off particle effects of characters would help delete all griefing.

dont think IP ban would help if they use a VPN or dynamic IP

i play with a vpn at all times because of this. Also, a common way that they crash you is they make an animation on the avatar that has a ton of polygons so your gpu can't handle it. The best way to stop crashes is to disable avatars by default.

I was told at best to enable Panick mode, which I just mastered yesterday thanks to a stranger.

Is now one year after this was posted, and the crashes still happening. Looks like VRCHAT team is not doing anything to address this.

Can't believe this was already a year ago hahah.

But yeah, it's still an issue. As much as it happened to me in the past, not so much fortunately in present. But the problem should still be addressed for others out there.

just restart the game whats the problem lol. it happens maybe once every 2 days, other early access games crash more often. stay away from "The Box" and disable shaders, pretty much it.
