Download a free voice modulator, then even your voice is hidden. You'd be amazed on how open you become when 100% anonymous. Finding that perfect avatar can also help. I was crazy shy. Then I found a few avatars to swap to. It is like putting on a new skin.

Try a smaller room, if you have issues with larger groups as well.

Many people on VRchat are either medically or selective mute (Including me). These people find ways to communicate by using TTS (Text To Speech), drawing, texting, or using sign language. If you want to learn sign language there are worlds that can teach you how. The way I got comfortable with talking to selective, very close people is that I got to know them more until I know that they won't judge my voice. It may be hard at first depending on what set-up you have, I have full body tracking so I exaggerate my body movements because the lack of vocals I use.

I will add when I get on vrchat next. I posted this due to bad experiences with public worlds and insensitive toxic bad vibe losers targeting me for my voice/avatar, not having FBT or custom avatars, and not being a meme lord extrovert which is really against my personality (I'm an introvert/HSP) and puts me off wanting to socialize and make friends.

Just want to find some wholesome communities where I can feel safe to express myself. I know these exist in VRchat but despite my hours, I'm still a noob and trying to find my place here.

Don't worry about those people.
Those nitwits will be around everywhere but you can ignore them for the most part.

The Furhub people have been very nice from what I've seen.

I can't say I'm a good guy or a nice person to be honest, but long as you are a fun person to hang around with, voice or not, I'll hang with ya.
