A lot of people just don't get this fact.
And as Shadowbrowdie pointed out, VRC+ is about supporting the plattform, not paying for some features. The VRC+ features are just goodies.
Maybe think about some triple A title, that you paid 60 or even 80 or 90 bucks for, and think about how much time you spent playing that (I for example played Mass Effect 1, 2 & 3 with all DLCs, took me about 80h, awesome game/story btw.).
Now compare that with people who played VRChat for thousands of hours, without paying anything for it.
I'm a VRC+ user, as I love the plattform, and I love spending time on it and meet people. So I support it.
And btw. you are not required to get VRC+ ;)
PS: you can get it cheaper if you pay for a year (:
PPS: I don't know for how long you are on the Plattform, but since they introduced VRC+, they got quite a few more developers and releasing more and bigger updates and bugs get fixed faster. Just FYI.
If it's for supporting the devs, I can sorta understand. That being said, it's still a scummy business practice to lock more avatar slots behind a paywall and then shove it in your face in the UI. If this is meant for only supporting the devs, there should be tiers. $5 a month, $10 a month, so on.
If it were $5 a month and I got the avatar limit increased, I'd be perfectly fine with paying for it. I'd get the yearly because that'd be so much more manageable to afford. Whereas, $10 is way too much, it adds up. And yearly is still $100. That's more than what I pay for Nintendo Switch Online, PS Plus, PS Now, EA Play, Streaming Services, etc. There's no doubt this is not consumer friendly.
It is something that is minor at the end of the day but still irritating nonetheless when the UI mocks me. Now if it had more features, I'd consider it. Such as an avatar search, that'll show you which worlds specified avatars are in. Or a proper screenshot mode, that allows you to pause the screen and move the camera around.
It's like Nitro for me, where I thought it was a scam but now they actually added plenty to the service to warrant me paying for it. Same case for here, if the devs want support for adding minor things, then add even more worthwhile yet minor things. It wouldn't be much on their part while at least making it more worth it for the player. Justify the price.
Also the funding helps them hire more developers to work on the game, add improvements, and patch things faster.
