Feet/Arms aren't specified?
So i'm trying to publish out my custom avatar, i've gone through all the steps; the rig is set to humanoid all the joints are assigned, scripts applied and scaling done. Yet when i attempt to save out i get errors saying that the "Your avatar is humanoid, but it's feet/upper arms aren't specified!"

Same error here, and I can't see any problems with my model either. When I go to look, all the things it is complaining about are specified.
upvote same issue here.

you dont need upper chest enabled that should always be "none" and if your in VR with toes enabled you will always be tip toeing other then that if its not a .pmx or .pmd which comes with mmd models you may have to rejoint the bones in blender or whatever program you used to get your model into a .fbx

Had this problem and found out renaming some items in the armature will make the vrchat sdk tell you "oops i cant see this". Yeah naming armature child items properly matters.

I had a working version(loosely used) as it was stuck in tpose in game. Closed the game and went back to untiy and when I tried to reupload again I got this error. So as far as I am aware I did not change anything name wise with the child armatures. And to clarify my working version was not uploaded as humanoid, but it was set to humanoid so after I restarted unity I began getting this error.

I have the same problem, and this is very frustrating since I have been working on this avatar all day.

I tried restarting multiple times, first time didn't work, after a couple of times it worked... seems very random. Can't garentuee this is a solution for everyone.

Hello all, was searching on google for an answer to this, also saw a fix in a youtube video.

It's usually a glitch, go to the model screen, hit select like you usually would to assign bones.

Try unchecking the "optimize model". Hit apply, it worked for me. You can also try going back into "configure" bones screen and then leaving and applying no changes. Hit apply and retry the build upload.

This won't help with MMD models (I don't think), but you can simply re-rig the whole avatar by putting it through Mixamo after deleting all the bones:

(go down to 'Avatar Things')

First off, make sure the names aren't changed, sometimes Spine will be set to UpperBody or something weird, and usually this only occurs when the model was pre-rigged.

Sadly, did not work for me, After consulting a friend of mine with a degree in 3d modeling however I got my avatar to fix most of my issues. However it is now stuck on missing heirarchy errors and I've completly re rigged it myself multiple times with blender unity you name it. If I toggle optimize for game I get the feet arent specified etc etc. If anyone would be willing take a look at it for me please add me.
I have spent almost 2 weeks working on this if I could just file drop it to someone and have them take a peek I would be very grateful.

I don't mind seeing if I can't rig it and test it out myself, can you give me a link to a dropbox or something? (I can't do MMD models, though)

Unchecking "optimize" just makes my model invisible ;w;
I don't know how, but I got it to where my model is now available to me in the game... but no matter what his feet always go through the ground, his model is facing backwards, and his arms stick straight out in front of him palms facing outward.

I've run into a mess it seems.
