Where do you buy your models?
I'm still a beginner in character design, but I would like to start making characters and I wanted to ask where do you buy your models.

You can find a lot of creators models on gumroad or booth. Alternatively, you could always join a few discord servers that specialize in community selling models/assets.

Also, FYI: Deviantart is another good resource for materials (clothing, hair, even some bases).

Twitter has a few modelers, as well, some of them doing business directly on there

Not to take cash away from creators. But there are several free models found online. Most fully made models are the common ones you see all over the game. But there's plenty of spare parts you can use to make something of your own with.

My first few avatars was made from models found online. Had to do all of the rigging and plenty of fixes with some amount of texture work, but it's a place to start if you intend to learn the entire process.

Currently have 2 projects at the moment. 1 is something I ripped out of a PS2 game, it was a nightmare to fix that model. And the other is a frankenstien for a friend, she gathered several parts and asked me to combine them all together.

Paid avatars are more than worth the money. Very much so if you are skilled enough to make one yourself. But when you want to learn to do it yourself then there's no better way than to just dive in headfirst.

Gumroad and Booth are the two main websites to buy avatars from. Prices usually range from $10.00 - $100.00. The lower end being 2.0 Avatars and uploads, the mid range usually being avatars for sale 2.0 and 3.0 with full unity packages. Higher end usually is a sale of a couple or more avatars combined into a single sale. Let's say there's 4 old avatars someone wants to sell, they'll list them all for 1 price. Typical 3.0 Avatars sell for around $25.00 - $60.00.

I'd post links and give names, but frankly there's too many to go off of. Find your way to the Lewd Market discord and you'll pretty much see 70% of the avatar creators in VR Chat.

You can also find commissions those can range from $100.00 - $1,000.00 and more.
