Full Body Tracking Requirements?
I try to figure out what requirements FBT at last has. It's pretty hard to find proper information. I'm talking about the trackers, base stations etc. As far as I found out I need the following for a good experience:

- 3x HTC Vive Tracker
- 3x Dongle (one for each tracker)
- 2x Base Station

Then there are these track straps for the trackers so you can wear them. Probably you need an USB-Hub for the dongles etc.

Alone the trackers and the base stations are very expensive. Even used. Is there anything I forgot, or is this all you need?

Greetings

Since you talk about buying base stations too, I'm assuming you're on an Oculus or WMR device. In that case you also need a third party application to merge the two tracking spaces. I forgot what it's called, but should be easy enough to google.

Many people come up with DIY solutions. I used a couple of hairties in the beginning.

Not necessarily. Each dongle needs a USB 2.0 port. Check if you have 3 ports to spare on your setup.

You might already know this, but just to be safe: The trackers come with a dongle each. So no need to look for them individually, unless you're buying incomplete used stuff, in which case you'd also have to make sure you're getting the included Micro-USB charging cable or have some at hand.

If you are using Quest and wants to use Vive Trackers along, you need to buy Virtual Desktop app from Quest Store. You also need to download Open VR Space Calibrator for Steam VR app so you can calibrate Quest with Trackers.

Oh right! I completly forgot to mention that, sorry. I'm using the Oculus Rift S. ^^
The hairties as a DIY solution is pretty cool! But what about the hip? It's a little wider than the part at the legs. Luckily I have three free USB Ports. And good to know about the dongles. So in the end I need "only" the three trackers (normally dongles included with each tracker) and two base stations. And normally the Micro-USB Cable is also included if I understood right. Correct?

Oh! And besides: Do you know how the angle or the tracking range of one base station is? I know, two should be better. But maybe one is enough ín my case.

Many people use a regular belt and attach the tracker to that (more hairties, rubber bands etc.).

Yes. A new tracker comes with: The tracker itself, a dongle, a Micro-USB cable and a "dongle cradle".
The cradle is basically just a USB adapter that allows you to use the Micro-USB cables as extensions for the dongles.

The FOV of 1.0 base stations is 120° (Source[www.vive.com])
The FOV of 2.0 base stations is 150° horizontally and 110° vertically. (Source[enterprise.vive.com])

That being said, recommending two base stations isn't so much about FOV and more about occlusion. You might get away with one base station if you always face the same direction. But as soon as you turn more than about 90° away from your base station, your body will occlude one or more trackers and your character will fly off into oblivion.
Whether this would still be worth it for you is your call.

Phew... Devinitive something where I have to think about.
About the information I've searched for you were a great help so far!
Thank you very much! =)

Now I try to save some money... for the moment. I'm not stingy. But over 700 bucks is an outrageous price for three trackers and two base stations. Yeah and the stuff what comes with the trackers.

I mean when I can buy as much stuff as I need to just let it work in a satisfying state then it's okay for first. After that I can buy the rest one after one. I searched already for for good prices, but didn't really find something.

Here's a recommendation, save up for a valve index and get slime vr full body tracking or tundra trackers. Vive trackers are overpriced right now and tundra just released newer, smaller, longer lasting and cheaper trackers that are just as accurate. Slime vr is gonna be released soon for around 120$ but the tracking is somewhat sub par however still good. If you dance or anything I would go with tundra though. Buying the valve index full kit off of their website is 1000$ and add on another 300 for tundra's or 120 for slime. Yes I know it's still pretty expensive but index's come with 2 2.0 base stations if you ever want to upgrade to 3 or 4, as well as valve index controllers which have amazing hand tracking (dancing and gestures) and an amazing headset. I did this and haven't regretted since ^^
