VRChat
Explanation as to why vr chat plus price is fair and reasonable
compared to other metaverses:

Roblox: 5 to 20 dollars a month for premium (lowers your chance to get banned[theorized] and gives equal or more value of premium currency every month, small premium features)

Second life: 12 dollars a month or 99 dollars a year (but you are given aprox 4.80 usd as premium currency every month and 7 dollars worth of land rental, AND premium features)

Fortnite: All the avatars cost like 20 dollars and/or you have to pay 10 dollars for a battlepass every 80 days and then put in work to unlock avatars

VRCHAT+ 10 dollars a month or 99 dollars a year (lower chance to get banned [e.g higher trus score], increased avatar slots, custom icon, more coming soon)

VR chat+ has fine features, and look at it compared to second life you don't even have to pay money to host a server like second life forces you to. You can buy custom avatars instead of waiting for epic games to throw you a new avatar; and if you don't want a custom avatar you can get premade ones for free!

couldn't have said it better myself
I mean anyone probably could have actually.

Like if they aren't paying for the servers then... Who is? And last I checked VRChat Inc. is privately owned but has backing from just Vive and Oculus in the form of basically just donations (not like loans or anything, VRChat is just a covert advertising platform for VR headsets for them at this rate), and a few other companies. Not shareholders or investors expecting an actual direct return on investment.

And calling something a scam when it plainly says what you get is stupid.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's worth the asking price. But I don't think any of this is actually correct. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Likely confusing VRCs Oculus support with Facebook data mining.

I haven't investigated myself and only heard through word of mouth. But what iv been told VRC has been living off 2 publicly known multi million dollar deals. One being from HTC (HTV?) for supporting their hardware and helping in its development (full body tracking and general VR support stuff). The 2nd I'm not certain of but I think it's for Oculus 1 support.

Even though those deals was for millions of US dollars, it's been years. Money doesn't last forever and I expected the devs to have been running low for a while now.

The way it was explained. Its payment for services. No need to repay or show returns.

VRC got paid to help support and develop VR tech. As well as to be an advertisement for VR hardware plus accessories by giving a place for people to use and show it off.

VRChat doesn't sell telemetry data.

I highly doubt that.
Edit:
We do not rent, sell, or share Personal Information with nonaffiliated companies for their direct marketing uses as contemplated by California's “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code § 1798.83), unless we have your permission
This says otherwise. You may not sell for advertising purposes, but R&D still fits.
Source: VRC website
But that literally says the opposite of what you're saying... It says plainly "we do not" and only puts in a clause that says "unless we have your permission" in case they do stuff eventually or maybe for specific beta tests or something I don't know could be anything. At no point do I recall having to give them express permission to them to sell my data, so as of right now they do not.

Stop trying to make stuff up. You're spreading misinformation.

No they don't.

They make money from donations from the big name VR companies who most likely want VRChat to survive because it proved to be a major point as to why people bought VR headsets, at least a few years ago.

Making a metaverse is the end goal of both the CEO of roblox and fortnite. Have you even played roblox and fortnite? Look
