Upcoming Feature: Panic Button
Hi all,

We've been seeing an increasing need for people to have a way to immediately block/remove people that may be causing issues with malicious avatars. To ensure user safety, we will be releasing a patch very soon with a new feature: the Panic Button.

The panic button is a key-press combination that works on all VR controllers, XBox controllers, and desktop. When pressed, it will enable "Mute All Users by Default" in the system menu, as well as a new option: "Hide all avatars by default".

When the panic button is pressed (or you check the options in the System menu), all users who are not your friends will have their avatars blocked and replaced with default floating gray character. Their microphones will also be muted.

Here's how you will activate the "Panic" mode:

Desktop: both Shift keys AND ESC key
Rift: both triggers OR both grips, AND both menu buttons (B/Y)
Vive: both triggers OR both grips, AND both menu buttons
Windows Mixed Reality and other VR controllers: both triggers OR both grips, AND both menu buttons
X-Box Controller: both triggers AND back AND menu buttons

Once you enable Panic mode, you must disable it by unchecking the options in the System menu.

You can also enable/disable the following features in the System menu:
Mute Users by Default - All users except for your friends will be mic-muted until you friend them
Block Avatars by Default - All users except for your friends will have their avatars blocked until you friend them

We hope this will help with ensuring your experience in VRChat is an enjoyable one. This feature will release with an upcoming patch, due out very soon.
