To the people wanting to -Buy- avatars. Dont. The people selling have no legal right to sell them, they do not own the models.
All they do is apply some premade finger gestures and add props and particle effects.
They can claim it takes them hours or days, but its really far from the truth.

Anything without particles takes around half an hour if they already have .anim files.

Most of them do not even decimate the models.

Meaning you also risk getting banned if an ingame moderator were to find out, for having a high poly model (even tho the polygons themselves dont affect performance, dynamic bones and particle effects do)

exacly plus its not even hard to find the model and rig it yourself, now if the said user makes their own models then they have the legal right to charge

like 99% of the stuff on deviantart/bowlroll etc are already rigged.

I was saying the same thing why would you pay someone to make them an avatar for you they can always screw you over at the end.
The only problem i have right now is the arms jutting out when standing still. But yes its really easy to learn

As ZeroTwo said, if an artist creates a model, they have all the right to sell it. Also, polycount does affect performance.

When purchasing a model, I would do some research beforehand to make sure that you're paying for original content :necroheart:

They do not.
Because guess what, they're taking the models from deviantart.

They have NO rights to sell.

I dont think theres a single "artist" out there for vrchat that has original content.

then you would be wrong their are plenty that make original avatars a little bit of time on twitch will show you that.
If you want to be tilted to think the other way all good for you. As far as animation and hand gestures sorry don't work as a drag and drop enless you want errors to be shown when you use smaller or overall diffrient avatars.
You need to edit alot of values so it can become compatible also yes you can bypass the poly limit easily at that but true builder will go though the time to lower it in blender its not that hard to do but is time consuming.
I think your very narrow minded to think the way you are its like saying artist are not artist enless they mix their own paint.

Theres no one on twitch making their own avatars.

They're taking DeviantArt/Bowlroll/Nicovideo/Billibilli models and then tweaking them/replacing clothing.

Thats not THEIR models.

They cannot sell models they've taken from other creators. You're literally stupid if you think so.

And gestures? Allow me to laugh, Ive put over 200 models into the game myself. Gestures you can literally use old anim files on a new models with some minor tweaks for the hands.
(Muscle tool is highly useful, you probably have no clue what it is though)

Ps. 90% of the content creators on deviantart/bowlroll etc DO NOT WANT THEIR MODELS PUT INTO ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ VRCHAT.

Nope. There are a few (very few) artists with original creation. Problem is that these "copy-artists" vastly outnumber (and scream louder than) those creating actual original content, and we're saturated with rips that well... You get the point.

Yeah I get it. I don't like using pre-made models when it comes to creation, I do my own models since it's easier for me than using pre-made content (Idk why lol). Of course many people can't do 3D modeling that well so they ask others to do it for them, and since the Miku-Model is easy to edit and it's "pleasing to look at", there is always a high demand for it when it comes for commissions.

tbh, the problem stems from one of two things; either:

  • Game rippers calling rips they've taken from games as their own art (it's not)
  • People taking others' models and making a few tweaks before calling it their own art (it's not, it's derivative work, and it's somewhat also plagiarism*)

*Also, there's a difference between kit-bashing, assembly and simply modifying someone's model. If you make a mech out of lots of simple shapes, that's fine (it's a method of doing physical modelling, and is made of unrecognizable parts). But if you just assemble a mech out of pre-made legs, body and weapons, then it's not original work. Your concept could be original, but it was made with already recognizable parts.

... and that is made worse by a certain subset of people who just want things for free.

It depends where you're finding people and who's doing it. There's plenty that make models from scratch, too.
