Discussion about Dance Clubs

I just got the Vive and have had a blast trying everything. I log onto VRChat every day and end up dancing for several hours. I guess its become a habit and I could use the exercise. Anyway, I was so amazed by how well room scale worked that I am getting full body tracking in a few days.

Point is, there are about 5 clubs in VRChat. Of those, one is too dark and one constantly has its music changed by griefers. The other three are often completely empty or private.

Sometimes I can find a populated club but the majority of people there are desktop users, griefing, and just standing blankly on the dance floor. This wouldn't be a problem if they actually came to watch people dance and make comments

So the majority of people I encounter are either not dancing or encouraging dancing. Who mostly have desktop mode on. The rest that have VR are lolis that stand in one place and move their hands around like they are playing paddycake. I have yet to find anyone dancing in VR with roomscale and really getting into it.

All of this is fine but I am just wondering if anyone else has encountered or cares abou tthis. Dancing is something that I didn't expect VRChat would be great at. Occasionally I have encounterd other people with VR and have got into sort of a dancing partner situation but like I said earlier its usually loli avatars with terrible range of motion who stand in one place.

If anyone is really into that portion of VRChat you can feel free to add me. I think dancing in VR really shows its strengths. And for the record I am not complaining here so much as I wonder if anyone else is kinda discouraged by the atmosphere here for people who actually are into dancing.

Oh, forgot to mention before, I'd also recommend TheWaveVR, Club Rust in High Fidelity, and a number of spots in Sansar for further rug cuttery.

If someone is willing to run a dance club at a specific day and time each week then I would add it to the VRChat calendar.

Also, there is a discord for VRChat events. All of the events on the calendar have their own channel there. A couple of the events include a piano club, open mic night and power chords!

I am a Desktop User until I can afford a VR Set.
I usually just run up to people and wave to them and shake my head no or yes to questions. X3

Wish there was more dance animations for Desktop Users. :(

What if the dancing is a custom animation? Does that count as dancing even though it's not VR? Which I don't have, is why I'm asking.

As someone with VR, I dance with people with custom animations all the time.

this is a pretty great resource, for the lazy it brings up a calendar that shows any scheduled events, i'm guessing from the discords in question, and clicking on one has a link to a discord and a poster in some cases, others are twitter posts. i only recently got vr and haven't got the space or money to dish out on full body, but being really into dance music i've had an itch to go looking for a club that actually is a club since real life events are miles away and major $$$$.

most clubs though are dead or like op said years ago, loaded with people that aren't there to dance, mostly just stand in one place away from the dance floor.

looking through the rest of the calendar.....that's a lot of events, they seem to show up on the fly comparing feb and jan to march, march being empty.

----to help with those that might also be searching, a quick search on discord found me this server[discord.gg], which also has a website[vrchatevents.com] with a similar calendar setup. it's not the same but it seems active judging by the event schedule on the website. can't seem to find the one in the post above me but i'm sure more searching around would help.

Am hoping for oculus one day will have body trackers that doesn't take that extra step to set it up I love the idea of they body trackers :3
