Text to speech configuration guide

I just figured out how to use tts with VRchat and I saw quite a lot of people are having trouble setting it up so I thought I'd share.

First, you'll need to install Clownfish and Virtual Cable.

FYI I am using Windows 10.

1) Go to "Sound" - do this by right-clicking the speaker icon on the windows toolbar

2) Select "Playback" - on the list you'll see CABLE INPUT, right-click and set as "default communication device"

3) Select "Recording" - locate CABLE OUTPUT on the list, right-click and set as "default device"

4) Now go to Clownfish by double-clicking the desktop shortcut you've just created.

5) Select "Set up" from the menu, make sure Cable-output is installed. If you have your Microphone on the list, click the "remove" button.

6) Double-click Clownfish again, select "Set Voice Changer" and press the "Clear effect" button. (I found out that if you don't do this, it'll mess up the TTS output)

6) Open VRchat, don't go full-screen. Bring up the menu with ESC and click "System", make sure the Microphone is set to Cable output.

7) In order to use TTS, you'll have to select "Voice Assistant" from the Clownfish menu.

8) Now you have both the VRchat and Voice Assistant windows open. Whenever you want to use TTS, press alt + tab to alternate between the windows. Type in what you want to say in Voice Assistant and hit the "Read text" button.
And there you have it.

Is there a reason the tts gets kind of choppy and glitchy? Like it can say 3 words but after that it alternates between glitchy and speaking

my text to speech is making echos, but its definalty working in game cause my characters mouth lol

Well this method completely broke the sound on my PC. Even after I uninstalled the virtual cable no sound is coming through.

Didn't work for me either, no output from Clownfish at all. Using Win7

Eventually got it working (for the moment anyway). Turned on "Hear mic." & "Hear sound" in Clownfish menu, then routed comms through "Stereo Mix" in recording devices (hidden device in Win7, I think it's removed in Win10). Means that all my PC sound goes through to VRChat though.

Seems the character I imported doesn't have mouth rigged up, VRChat crashing a lot for me atm so haven't successfully "talked" to anyone yet :/.

I got everything working but now the games playback is going into my mic
