What are the TV sets with wings on Android?

When I play on android and go on an adventure, there are some small TV sets with wings in the upper left conrer and when I press them, an ad plays, do they give me extra reward or what?

Not sure if this applies to others but on my phone the TV only appears when I have just logged in. After that it does not show up anymore but I can click the spot it is supposed to be for more ads. Not sure if there is really a limit to how many ads you can watch every day but after about 100 ads they stopped showing up for me yesterday (enough to complete the Heavy Spinner achievement). Sometimes I had ads play but did not get the coins. I suspect there was either a connection problem or muting the phone played a role.

For me is every time I go on a mission and see the timer, I think it matters where you live in whether you will see ads or not.
