what does halls of knights do ? and shouls i invest in it it takes no coin only wood and stone

It's to help produce better gems from your gem mine (you can only start building this at level 3). If you have excess wood and stone then you should go ahead. I once made a mistake of building a hall of knight (around level 5/6) then realised it cost so much that I didn't have enough for other key buildings so that delayed me for awhile. Focus on your hall of knight if you're in a guild, since the HoK of every guildie gets added together. The higher the guilds HoK, the better the gems.

Once a guildmate hits HoK 15, everyone in the guild will be able to find black gems (all stats).

If you want to, you can completely ignore defenses in your fortress and just focus on the castle > workers > resources > HoK.
Don't worry about losing resourcea due to attacks. You'll pretty much always have the shield on you.

Its actually possible at level 14, very VERY rarely tho
