Ending [Spoilers]

So.. I just finished the game, I played it non-stop from start to finish and I loved it. I expected something else, but it's overall a nice little game. The ending, though, left me with a bittersweet taste. So.. this thread will have spoilers, of course, but I'd like to know your opinion.

So, in the ending, Richard has the choice to let Sally (The bot nanny) or Lydia (His lover) to get his wife's real body. Who did you chose? Personally, I've gone with Lydia, since I figured out Richard is still a selfish jerk, he says he loves his kid, but his is nothing but self-pity. The moral thing to do would have been to let Sally have her real body back, even though she sold out his husband to get a new life, I don't really judge her, nor does any other character in-game. Lydia too sold out Richard hoping she would get a new healthy body, even though she did it without any malice.I don't think this choice matters anyway, what does matter is the next one: did you allow James to absorb City5? I didn't let him, since the process is messed up and the outcome isn't really clear, Richard wouldn't have let his son to risk to die, even if it meant to have a slight chance to save everyone inside the emulation, along her wife or lover. This ending is really messed up and shows how humanity doesn't have any chance at redemption.

I chose the opposite of you both times. I tried to chose the kindest options regardless of how Richard acted or wanted throughout the game.

I chose to download sally and to download city5, because thats what the kid wanted. Screw Richard he will get nothing from me. Even his 'Redemption' arc was shallow. He was an ass the whole game down to the end. If you chose both options that I chose, You will hear Tracy talk like a robot. Then after downloading city5 the kids just wants to go home. BTW, the robot looks more human/compassionate than Richard. The ending Cut-Scene/FMV shows everyone seperatly in Richards apartment keeping to theirselves staring out the window. It zooms into Jame's eyes and you see the people of city5 rebuilding. It shows Richard and Lydias avatar standing together being happy. I personally like to see that as Lydia finding the kind Richard she wanted that would spend time with her, and John now has a wife that has time to spend with him.

In the end I dont think anyone got what they wanted. Tracy didn't get the future she wanted, Richard didn't get the family he wanted, Simon lost his memories, Lydia didn't get a new body, James I don't really know, But John gets to live blissfully unaware of the chaos that happened. (My John was deleted in my playthrough.)

I found this (Tracy and download city5) ending the best. Like Lydia does have a new life with Adam and Richard got his family back and the boy ai is growing. Everything is fine

saving the "kid" and Sally. However, I reconsidered shortly afterwards.

Basically Richard is a terrible person, Sally's imprint comes from a persona who betrayed the human race alongside the Steve Jobs' lookalike, and the world he was brought back into still is an effing ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The "kid" on the other hand (which was not a kid anymore, just a singularity with memory imprints of a human kid) was en route to become the most intelligent entity ever.

It feels like you are depriving him (or "it") of the best option.

Which also brings me to the fact I think the dystopian world they were living in was not the real world either - it was City4, the failed city you read about in the posters in the "medical" centre. How on earth could they communicate so easily otherwise? How was the normal "human" kid able to hold the entirety of the Civ5 in his head and able to "simulate" the code and RUN it. That's not something human beings do.

I saved Lydia and downloaded the city, i think that is the best option from my experience with this game. The wife was a broken shell just like Adam so i decided they would make a good match. As for the idea that their world is a fake one is unlikely, the other failed project cities are just that, cities that where replaced up to number 5 where they even had plans for number 6 if that also did not work out.

I have made all ending, but the best one is saving Lydia & City 5, Sally is not Tracy and you must understand and accept that(That's why she said, Hello Richard, i'am Sally, when he transfert her), its just an Android, Tracy is dead, Lydia is the only Human Being, James/John is not Even a Kid, just an A.I in a Kid Body.

I chose download Sally and the City. Because you know.... Adam do be a better person than Richard, and I think Lydia is better end up with him...
