#FE, Tears to Tiara 2, and Dungeon Travellers 2 were released with only Japanese audio.
As far as I'm aware, the only game they've released between P4G and Persona 5 that was dual-audio is Odin Sphere Leifthrasir. Yet they also had Dragon's Crown where the character voices were dual-audio, but the Japanese narrator voice was removed, while the Japanese game was fully dual-audio.
So seriously, what are you talking about?
I can understand complaining for the sake of "original work" when it comes to localization where the original dialogues are translated in a completely different and arbitrary way, but when it comes to voices I'm fine with non-original voices as long as there's at least some quality effort into the new ones. This whole "no original voices = no buy" thing sounds like a fad that some people follow only because they see others doing the same.
As I once said in a similar thread, if for any reason a game I like had to switch to a different artstyle after being remade or localized, I would still be fine with it as long as the new artstyle doesn't fail at conveying the emotions brought by the original. This sadly is the case with Evolution versions of Trails in the Sky games, especially when it comes to Estelle's unique reactions (not to count those cases where the original art would subtly hint at the true nature of some characters, based on the camera angle of their faces). And yet I would buy those games, hoping for someone to mod the old artwork in. I wouldn't just boycott the series and lose all chances to play it.
Seriously, not buying a series only because of this wouldn't raise chances to see it "fixed" in the future, it would only make its localization come to a definitive dead end. If you're firm on doing this I guess you're a generic videogame/JRPG fan who's only partly interested into this story and characters and wouldn't have too many regrets in case Trails games are not localized. But those who have learned to know and appreciate it (be it in its original Japanese version for those fluent enough with the language, or the English localization on the games brought over so far to everyone else) will buy and play it regardless of Japanese or English voices, or original or remade art, or original or remade music. Because they want to play it for its story, characters etc, not just limited to the above aspects.
I already addressed that way back on page 1.
He already said that he doesn't like the principle of fanbase making mods that should be made by publishers in the first place, and he clearly seems to intend that not buying games that don't offer these features by default will send them a message. It almost sounds like revolutionary propagand at this point.
We should speak with our wallet to get more games localized, not less. I completely agree with Erpy on his statement about not letting the perfect become the enemy of the good.
I'm not speaking about real fans or whatnot here, just saying you're just not strongly wishing to see the games localized. Because otherwise you're missing an important point here: XSeed isn't Square Enix or Bamco, if one of their most important projects bombs hugely after it's released they won't just be able to get back to it and release it with Japanese voices. They will simply be forced to abandon the series.
I'm also more into Japanese Dub, but I have to admit that CS1/CS2' s English Dub is pretty good. Like Orange said, XSEED did try to get them but they can't sadly... You'll have to deal with it or just wait for a mod (even if you don't like it, this is better than nothing).
A(i)dios.
Perhaps that would be the case if I simply didn't buy it and never said anything. With this thread, it's pretty obvious what the message is, and XSEED would have to be sticking their fingers in their ears not to hear it.
Not sure if you're a troll or just delusional. You seriously think if the game bombs XSeed will have enough money left for releasing the games again with JP voices?
Yes, they will surely understand and try to get Japanese voices on their future non-Trails projects. Too bad Trails would never be localized again because of the financial failure you're hoping for. Enjoy those other games with Japanese voices while I regret forever not being able to play new Trails games.
Thank goodness not everyone thinks like you.
