something wrong with my Ries?

I am on the fifth plane now, with Ries and some other girls in party. Ries is terribly weak in melee, currently equipped with her (rather old) Silvahn sword. her stats are fine, STR is comparable to her other party members. she is level 116, about the same as the others (this is obviously an imported save from 2nd game). but only Ries is scratching enemies for 1-100 damage, everyone else is dealing decent amount of damage.
bugged game? or am I just missing something?

Ries isn't all that particularly great at either melee or orbments so her damage is always going to be lower.

However, the weapon is probably the issue in this case.

guess I will scrape up enough mira to buy her the newest sword available *sigh*
mira is really tight in this game, seems like the only way to get any is to convert septium to mira, but I'm always short on septium also..

This is a problem. Each point of STR is worth like 3.4 points of damage so not upgrading your weapons will lose a LOT of damage.

In any case though, Ries is better off used as a caster. Her orbment is pretty good and you can easily get her Range 2 Dark Matter EX which has very high damage bonus (or regular Dark Matter).

What are you wasting mira/sepith on? Just gear up the characters you plan on using and don't bother with the slots of most of the physical characters.

Ries best functions are as a support caster and CP battery who also happens to be able to melee attack when she doesn't need to support. Her CP battery and resurrection capabilities are amazingly strong, and her orbment is good, which makes getting Zodiac on her pretty easy.

She's one of the strongest party members in the game due to her CP battery/Resurrect/heal skill being obscene and her strong orbment.

I got a morality sword for her (was the only rare weapon drop I got), and she immediately started hitting enemies for 1k more than Analace did with her jinou sword, which was still op as @#@%% for her.

I kinda think that using her as a melee is not a terrible idea because if you can get a good weapon for her and build her for melee decently, her aoe craft is pretty spiffy since its range is huge (and will smoke all but 2 pillers for the final boss).

Ries is decent with magic and has usefull crafts, trying to make her melee fighter will be difficult and doesnt really fit her toolset. I used her as enfeeble debuffer and general support/damage stuff. Her ats damage is ok, i think shes in general ok. Overall solid caster, nothing special, nothing bad, considering her crafts are good for caster. As far as i remember she's fall behind Olivier in ats ( who's right behind Renne and Kloe ) and has slightly worse orbment ( with locked mirage socket, which is pretty much like universal socket anyway ).

Ries can use Ats gear that's female exclusive. Olivier cannot. After the gear, she has better Ats.

Ries real advantage is in just how good her CP donation craft is. 15cp for 50% heal and resurrect after you factor in the 50 CP gift it gives to your resident craft spammer. All around amazing, and she can be built to cast Zodiac as well.

Heh, I remember getting that Morality Sword in Chapter 5 too and how godly powerful it was.

Ries' stats are above average in both physicals and arts. Her strength is on par with Joshua's, so she can do solid damage as long as you keep her weapon up-to-date. Her ats is a little below Joshua's and Schera's, but still quite a bit higher than Estelle's/Tita's/Josette's.

Ries is excellent at support. Especially when partnered with a Agate and Kevin.

In my party Ries actually had highest STR value of my main party members so I wouldn't say she is weak in melee although I can understand that there are some stronger melee characters around. Her crafts aren't too bad, she is nice as a support and since I thought I might have to use her later I decided to spend time on her and practice how to use her in battles.

Character levels were 141-142 during the final boss though.

I have to admit that Renne was my favorite caster once I got good quartz for her orbment. Kevin was game breaker with his S-Craft (especially at 200 CP) and I liked Estelle in the FC & SC that I just had to use her in my party from the moment I got her as a possible party member.

I think Ries's 200 ATS sword makes her a pretty viable caster.

She's quite better than other caster (no she's not yer melee main), due to her holy-blessing and long ranged line-impede.
sure, her raw ats may not best kloe (ATS & S-Craft Utility)/renne + olivier orbment, but then again you'll eventually get her ATS weapon which makes up for it.

absolutely in top-tier for caster.

Wow that's an insane ATS value. That said a sad speed stat.
