Sooooooo.... Not an RPG?

I'm sure this appeals to all the tactical/strategy/Xcom players, and I understand Larian wanting to do something different. But D:OS2 had a lot of character building that I don't see happening in this. I heard Larian expected Dragon Commander to do good and Divinity OS1 to be the flop, so I guess they are really into this idea of this type of game.
I'm still going to buy the game and try it, hoping I will like it because I love Larian studios and will support them wherever possible.
But I'm an RPG fan, and I loved the character building in Divinity OS2 that was reminiscent of how your character grew/roleplayed in old RPGs like Baldur's Gate and non-Bethesda Fallout. So I just hope you guys don't abandon the concept altogether.

Nice asset flip, Laurian. Everyone was anticipating new numerous chapter in DOS, completely new on a new engine version with char generation, role-playing etc., and all we got is this asset flip with 90% of DOS2 textures and models but rebuilt a bit to be a half-card game half-strategy non-rpg spin-off. Its like ThroneBreaker to Witcher 3. GJ Laria - 10% of effort ->100% of profit from non-thinking hamster fanboys.

Decisions we make decide the outcome of the game.. Yeah I'm down
