bug? magister's key not working

i recieved the 'magister's key' from yarrow after helping her find migo, and took the undergroud passage into the fort dugeon, but it does not unlock the unattackable door there. i tried killing the magisters in the dugeon but while they had the same key i still could not unlock the door.

in the intro the stern key refused to unlock the stern door too, not sure if im missing how to use keys or if this is a bug.

Having the same problem. Have the key but the f***ing door won't open.

The Houndsmaster room has a key for that door, just hold alt to look for it. It's the room to the right of the door you're talking about.
