HDR not working on Mac
I've seen Windows users complaining about HDR not working correctly and I'm not having anymore luck on a, Mac.

It does funky things to the game application, both on my iMac's display and my second display, a 55 inch 2018 LG 4K TV that does support HDR. Stuff like freezing upon start up or just crashing the application atogether. Even when I can get the game to launch and play with HDR on everything is so dark it almost looks like a completely black screen.

The specs are as follows:

27" 2017 5k iMac running Mac OS Mojave 10.14.3
3.8 GHz Intel Core i5
16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
Radeon Pro 580 8192 MB

Unchecking the HDR option in the Mac start up dialogue appears to make the game run like it should without any graphical issues.

So is this an issue for everybody, both Windows and Mac, or should this be working correctly for me?

HDR _for now_ is only supported on iMac machines - this means external HDR monitors are not supported. This will change in the near future - so stay tuned. Please contact support for any crashes or freezes or anything like that - it shouldn't behave like that.

For iMac owners:

HDR calibration for iMac 4k/5k procedure:
• Ensure you have Automatic Brightness Adjustments enabled (System Preferences/Display)
• Go to Options->HDR settings.
• Start with Max Brightness and Min Contrast
• Press ‘Apply’
• Now DON’T apply general video settings. Just click close button and Discard the settings
• Sorry for ^^^ that - it’s a known issue
• Now tune your HDR with Brightness/Contrast controls to match your style

This is not working for me on 27" 2017 5k iMac running macOS Big Sur 11.6.
By the way: it has never worked, also with previous macOS builds.

The workaround here is very confusing and unclear. In line 3 you say to 'go to Options->HDR settings'. Where exactly? In the splash screen when starting the game or within the game in the Options?? Also 'Now DON’T apply general video settings". What and where are the general video settings?

Could you please explain it a little more precisely? Maybe with some screenshots.

I would really like to play it with HDR.

Hey guys!

So I have also been struggling with the HDR settings(very dark contrast screen) on a MBP, running the M1 Pro chip.

Here is how I solved my issue:
1. Start the game with the launcher option(by pressing the cmd key when the games starts)
2. In advanced settings go and disable the HDR option.
3. Start the game see how it looks. In my case the whites were blown out very badly and since you cannot access the brightness when the HDR option is disabled I did the following:
- exit the game
- go to Documents/Larian Studios/Divinity Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition and delete the GraphicsSettings.lsx file.
- start the game

Brightness should be back to normal now and visibility would be all-round good even in dark envs

Cheers
