Counting your Chickens quest bugged? (Quest Spoilers)

I’ve seen YouTube videos of this quest where they talk to Pepper, use Spirit Vision, and then talk to Marge right away and everything works. I have no idea how to trigger the correct dialogue where she tells you about the father.

Rather than that dialogue triggering all she says to me is “Peeper? Peeper? Where are you Peeper!?”. I’ve tried taking him to the dad but it won’t trigger the dialogue that gives you the option to kill Peeper (for a nice reward). I even tried talking to the father first. I told him he has a son and he told me to bring him to him, but it doesn't matter because without triggering the dialogue with Marge I have no option to kill him. I can only click "let them sort it out" and then the fight begins (which gives you significantly less of a reward).

Can anyone shed some knowledge on this? Is this bugged or am I an idiot and doing something wrong? Thank you in advance.

I kiled pepper, no other solution sadly. At least you get a source orb.

It's bugged in the definitive edition (but not in the classic edition). All you can do is take the lesser option and kill the void chickens. It sucks but at least you do get some exp and source orbs.

yes, the definitive edition on my ps4 is bugged in this quest. No Dialogoption with the Mum of pepper.. thats sic! .. the chickens kills is very hard, he regenerate, what ist when i pepper kill?

For this fight, the chickens keep coming. If you don't kill them quickly, they just keep coming forever.

So you must hit them hard with AOE spells immediately. Whirlwind, fireball, grenades, anything that does spash damage.
