Nvidia users - I think I found the answer to people having problems with custom refresh rates full screen mode.
My apologies if this has been answered before, but I seem to have stumbled upon a solution to the problem I have been having with this game since I bought it. I have a Nvidia GTX 1070 on a Dell 27" 1080p monitor (running the game at native resolution 1080p of course). The monitor's native refresh rate is 60hz, but I run it at a custom 72hz refresh rate because I find it much nicer for movies and games.

Since buying Divinity: Original Sin 2 I have had a problem making the game, and the only game of all the games I own, recognize I'm running a custom refresh rate and not the stock 60hz when in fullscreen mode. I tried manually editing the games 'graphicSettings.lsx' configuration file with the custom refresh rate but this didn't work, the game just kept on resetting itself back to the monitors default.

The solution? Nvidia's driver itself (currently running latest release 388.71) and the scaling mode settings within the Nvidia control panel. If you are having this problem like me try this:

1 - Go into the Nvidia control panel, click on 'Adjust desktop size and position'

2 - Set the scaling mode to 'Aspect ratio' from it's default setting of 'No scaling' and click apply

3 - go into your Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin 2 and delete just the 'graphicSettings.lsx' file located within. This will make the game detect you're hardware again like it did when you first loaded it up.

4 - Load game.

Boom! The game now automatically detects my custom display refresh rate in fullscreen mode. I can reverse this as well by setting the scaling mode back to default, letting the game redetect and being stuck at 60hz again.

I'm not sure if this is the games fault, the driver's fault, or my hardware but it works (for me). This could well be applicable to other games as well so it was worth sharing imo.

Merry Christmas :)
