BUGGED Quest - "No Way Out"
I suppose this is Act 2? I'm on Reapers Coast.

So I went into the basement, got the guy to give me his sword and brought it up for the Magisters. They accept the blade but don't leave so I reload the save. Now every time I come up, even though I have the sword, they don't recognize me as having it.

Yup the quest doesn't not resolve unless you kill the magisters or he dies. Really cool testing here Laurian.

The quest doesn't solve when I show the sword to the Magisters. So I guess the only way now is to kill the Magisters in the area.

I can confirm it is still bugged and hasn't been fixed.

Guess what? it's still bugged. Google brought me here. They only accept sword if you unchain the controlled character, and quest log moves to 'you talked Owin to come out unarmed'.. 'DE' my arse... :\

There are a few solutions I found on the Fextralife wiki when I recently replayed the game. Look for the comments and try to piece up the quest that way.
