Why I HATE GM Mode
I love the idea but there are some things that just make me mad when using it and make me want to turn the nonsense off and to uninstall the dumb game. Seriously.

1. Innate Skills (Bug?)
Whatever it is, DON'T GIVE THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ NPCS THE STUPID INNATE SKILLS BACK IF I DELETE THEM! I DELETE THEM FOR A REASON.

2. No way of creating characters
You can't create characters, like player like characters where the armor they wear suits the armor they have equipped, npcs that start with NO SKILLS AND ARMOR. This is a glaring problem since most of he useable templates have STUPID innate skills that you can't get rid off while also incredible limiting the usablitiy of races and models

3. Icons
Why does the icon not change? Why do they have icons and not just this old ambigious "random npc hidden face" icon. It sucks to have this stupid face when you entirely changed EVERYTHING about the character.

4. Constant bugs with little to no fixes and support
Larian doesn't give a damn about GM Mode. There were bugs that were not fixxed for a YEAR + despite them being well aware of them, such as stats resetting which could RUIN your entire campaign ( as it did for me once ). Now we have a new version, with new bugs that make it harder and harder to use.
Great.

I could rant on but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it's REALLY easy to fix this stuff, isn't it? You don't even respond to it, forums are mostly dead and nobody gives a damn about GM Mode.

3: Portraits are rendered in the editor and not adaptive to chages in GM Mode. Unfortunately.
4: Not true. larian support is awesome.

Lot of good points and the little to no support to GM mode is why I stopped working on my GM campaign + mod
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Thanks, I didn't see this when I looked yesterday and I couldn't make my own since as far as I know the definitive edition engine hasn't been released.
It would be so much easier if they just cared a little bit about GM Mode.

I agree. The lack of support for GM mode is what turned my group off pretty quickly. There's such potential in the system and yet, they don't bother with the single potentially most interesting game mode...

GM Mode is amazing and there nothing wrong with it. It's main problem is people wanting it to be something else.
The only thing it really needs is an easy way to import/export characters, but even that can be done with a little work by the GM.

Yes, let's completly ignore the obvious giant problems which usually have to be worked around by using divinity 2 engine which makes everything annoyingly complicated which should NOT be the case as this is why GM mode exists in the first place.

Giant problems such as?
I can think of none, unless of course you want to turn GM Mode into something it isn't, never was meant to be ot goes against everything a P&P like GMed game is.

Problems such as : Stats constantly resetting, Skills suddenly resetting in a new version, all characters losing all stats skills and items after loading, there not being a proper character creator and so on.
Whenever they fix it ( which usually takes 6+ months if even ) they always introduce a new problem.
Yeah, I want to turn GM Mode into something it isn't, a tool people actually want to use.

Updates always break stuff in every game, sad, but I prefer updates and having to do a little work over no updates.
No proper character creator? Perhaps you shoul.d try the "manage" option.
Only vald complaint would be the skills resetting, but that can be avoided by selecting an apropiate creature with skills you want or using the mod I linked above. Also I am sure Larian will fix that in the near future.

Judging by the number of downloads for my GM Mode only stuff, there are quite a few people using GM Mode.

I looked at general downloads. Top GM Mode Workshop content has 6000 downloads, by far the biggest.
That's not that much

Show me a game that has a more active DM/GM mode...
Or that can do the same awesome things you can do here.
(And don't say "neverwinter nights" because that DM mode is way less powerfull and you'de be lucky if you find 25 active DMs)

There not being any others just means that it isnt popular enough for people to bother making more games on it.
It's not a great argument. Yes it's ONE of the biggest, but that's only because the market is small and there are hardly any buyers and they are focusing on what people REALLY want, the main game- It's a smart business choice, but still sucks
Heinz234 Sep 17, 2018 @ 12:33pm
So, if you want a good GM mode and as you say there is just 1, why not try to make that one work instead of going "Why I hate this " ?
Especially as that only one is pretty good.
Kaleidio Sep 17, 2018 @ 11:25pm
Because I am NOT a developer for this game and it is not my duty to fix the games FOR the people.
Man, no man's sky sure was a bad game.
"Shut up why do you complain just fix it"
You realize how idiotic that idea is

So using a single mod that would solve all your problems (the blank NPCs) equals to fixing the game to you.
Seems to me you rather complaign than actually play the game.
I don;t think you want to be a GM at all because even the littlest of actions obviously is too much effort for you. Let alone you would actually need to spend some time to prepare your campaign.
