What's a good tank build and who should I be assigning the tank role to?
I'm trying to make a physical build play through. I'm going to make my custom character (or Lohse) into this really strong Warfare/Polymorh build I am fond of. Sebille will become either a summoner/archer or a Scoundrel/polymorph build, I haven't decided yet but I know both work very well. The third spot will be a Warfare/Necromancer build with some utility spells on the side.

Beast is an obvious choice as a dwarf with the extra dodge and health. What turns me away is the petrifying touch and blinding squall will be of no use as a tank.

Red Prince has a great tank ability in Demonic stare but I believe it scales on intelligence. His fire and poison resitance seems like it would be useful in certain fights but not as universal as the dwarven dodging or health.

Lastly would be Fane, who I may or may not use in the warfare/necromancer role. He definitely has the best origin ability in the game and play dead is a wonderful "get out of jail for free" card. What's annoying is that he is undead will be shreded by holy and healing spells. Taking him means I will have to alter my set up to cater to poisoning him in a pinch.

I could also put Lohse in this spot. She's definitely the better option for a human when compared to Ifan Ben-Mezd. She also plays nicer with Sebille. Encourage is really the only useful thing she brings to the table. I am unsure if initiative will help her out with bouncing shield and whether or not if it can crit at all.

Or, if I am trying to maximize the tank role, I can make a custom dwarf and get the always useful dome of protection which meshes really well with a tank. It's definitely the best option in my eyes but I would be sacrificing on my warfare/polymorph build and the massive spike it provides at level 1. The knight prebuilt class is the closest thing to it but it sinks some points into unnecessary areas like constitution and opts for two handed before polymorph, thus robbing me of that extra strength point. It will still be strong but not as strong as when I make it.

I'm unsure who the best option is with my current blueprint. The only definites are that Sebille is on the team and that I have a two-handed warfare/polymorph build in the very beginning.

In the current version of the game, AI is smart enough to try targeting the most vulnerable party members first, which means ignoring ones with high armor. This has been noted by Larian as an unintentional side effect, and in the DE, they're tweaking the AI to get them to target those with higher armor values more.

But in the current version, a good Tank build goes 1H + Shield, pumps CON like crazy, and takes Picture of Health, Glass Cannon, Comeback Kid, Morning Person, and Unstable might fit too . They also splash into Hydrosophist and Geomancer for additional armor restoration.

Glass Cannon is what draws the enemy attention. It also means that your character won't be doing anything but being stunned most of the time, so they'll need high armor and health.

There are no holy spells, only healing spells.

Tank builds only work if you play solo (i.e. 1 char). If you're interested, search steam guides for anti-paladin. Otherwise, the best tank is a two handed warrior with an oportunist talent.
