Anyone get to the room after defeating the driftwood arena?
As the title implies, there is a room you can unlock after beating the champ in driftwood, I found the door and was completely stumped as to how you are supposed to solve the room.

Theres pipes that blow out oil and cause Petrification, and do a ton of damage if you get caught in it (basically certain death) and theres valves that I assume turn off certain pipes to allow you to progress, but I cant figure out how to use them without having to constantly ressurect the people who attempt as any attempt to reach them is certain death.

Am I missing a item or ability I need later in the game, or something obvious that makes that makes the puzzle doable? Has anyone solved this and gotten the treasure?

The valves work but petrification is blocked by Magic Armor. So boost someone to have a lot of magic armor and make sure to take time for the armor to regen between hits.

I did, from entering the room, Right + break pipe, middle, left .

I considered that, but nobody in my party could survive getting there, turning the valve, and getting back, even with buffs like armor of frost. It also seems such a brute force way of solving it.

There are potions that give you more magic armor. Though I know that timing when to move helps, if anyone has a spell to "teleport" they help move the character away from the petrify (even spells like tatical retreat), also at the top of the ladder to the left (as long as you click the ladder) is a safe spot to get your armor back. I suggest saving and letting one wander in to see what can counter petrify. Using those spells should help as well.

And yes, I think brute force is the point of it.

Okay, I solved it, you were right. I kept thinking you needed to be right next to the valve to turn it, so the oil would slow me down too much, or I would teleport there, and it would take too long to recover from the teleport before you got blasted with steam.

Turns out if you just click it, you can reach it from waaaay further away than it looks, didnt even go up the steps.

Teleported a character in, used a move skill to get him up on the ledge just outside the gas, then pulled the valve.

Or use Wings if you have a polymorph Character with you. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i love this ability! :-)
Flew directly to the top where the valve is located without being hit one time by the steam.

I am curious about the secret room in Driftwood arena which requires you to have two party members stand on pressure plates. Inside I find what appears to be an altar, with bloodied bowl and ritual knife. Is there something you can do in this room I'm not seeing other than just loot stuff?

As for the Treasure room, using abilities like Cloak and Dagger, or an ability that allows Flight on a character makes getting through this part very easy. You don't need to open the first door to get past it.
