Pet Pal . . . again

Most simple question of the day!
I'm new to this RPG, starting over with my 3rd group (love this game), still have never found the talent pet pal. Can you believe?
I have researched this subject on wikis and these steam boards and all I've seen skips the talent acquisition details or assumes your char has the talent.
I know Ifan has it - supposedly - but i used him for a while and he showed no listed talent or spell for pet pal and could not communicate with pets.
Is there a talent that drives PP, if I begin to put points in, I will get the opportunity to get PP?

Uh... I'm not sure if I understand the question correctly, but if you're wondering how to get Pet Pal, follow these steps:

If in character creation, go to the Talents tab
Scroll down until you find Pet Pal
Click the little + next to it
Proceed with creating your character
Done

If you want it after you've already started the game or for an NPC party member, open the Equipment panel by pressing I or E

Go to the Talents tab
Make sure you've leveled up recently and have recieved a talent point for that
Scroll down until you find Pet Pal
Click the little + next to it
Done


Now, if you try to talk to an animal, you should be able to understand what it says. It's like a passive that's always there, you don't need to use any spell or ability to activate it. Just select the party member who has Pet Pal and click on the animal to talk to it like to any other NPC.

I strongly suggest giving pet pal to the person in your group with the persuasion skills.

Thank you and I'm getting it. I've restarted 3 times and after that changed each group several times - SOP for RPG but this is some RPG!

Don't give pet pal to your main character. There's a quest later on that makes them unable to use it and doesn't refund the skill point.

What quest is it? Just tell me w.o spoilers, if possible, so I can avoid that quest. Minor spoilers are alright, if necessary, cause I really don't want to lose Pet Pal on my main character.
