Fane "Inquisitor" is viable?
So, planning to finally play this game I'm leaving behind for years now, and Fane origin really gets me, so I wanna try a run with our undead friend.

But I also totally like the concept of a warrior with self heals, which brings us to necromancy, of course. The idea is a 2H weapon warrior with necro and the supposed self heals. But not only Fane is undead (which I'm not certain the self heal will actually cure me, but I'm also reading here and there on the internet this build is not worth anymore since some kind of nerf in the last patch or something.

So, any tips in that regard?
I'm not much of a min/max player, neither intend on play on honour mode or something. Actually, I'll use 6 party man mod to play all the origins in the same run, but DoS2 being a 5+ years old game makes it harder to find updated builds or something.

Fane (PC) - 2H Weapon
Beast - 1h+shield "cleric"
Sebille - Daggers rogue
Ifan - Bow ranger
Lohse - Ice mage
Prince - Some kind of mage

Can someone point me out to a updated build or some sort of site?

I mean, if you’re going to play with 6 characters your builds won’t really matter much since you’re going to overwhelm each fight with sheer action economy. Especially if you’re going to play on Classic difficulty.

That said, inquisitor is fine as long as you’re not investing into both strength for melee and intelligence for offensive Necro spells.

I would follow up and say cleric build wouldn’t be worthwhile as healers aren’t necessary, but again, with 6 characters it really isn’t going to matter much. Not unless you also intend to use mods to adjust the difficulty balance to make up for having the extra characters.

Necromancy does restore health of the undead player characters, Fane included. So a point or two in the Necromancy (might be from gear) makes sense, especially considering that Necro have good utility/survival spells which do not require a lot of Intellect.
Just, as Chaoslink already said, don't split your main attacking stat and skill. If you want to use 2H weapon as your damage dealing tool, go with Strength and Warfare first and foremost.

I’ll add though, the lifesteal effects from Necro are what heals undead. The actual heal spell like Blood Sucker will function like normal healing and damage undead. Having a Geomancer use poison spells is more effective long term though. If Fane is in melee with an enemy, then you can actually hit the enemy with a poison spell while also hitting Fane, damaging the enemy and healing Fane in the process. If you give him the talent Living Armor, he’ll also get magic armor back when healed, which can be really good on Strength armor users who naturally have low magic armor.
