I emailed them at supportdos2@larian.com with some crash dumps, my save file and a link to this discussion. fingers crossed.
I received a reply:
There is a known issue (since the last game update) with (usually) one of the two opponents in that fight that use the spells Spit Blood and Madness Squall.
It may help to reduce the difficulty level to Story. Focusing attacks and crowd control efforts on those opponents can kill them before they have a chance to use the spells that can cause a crash. With a save mid-combat, summons or changing positioning could get them to change targets their next turn, which can avoid the crash for at least the next round, that could otherwise be triggered (even if they use the same spell).
Since you included your save, I also loaded it in the developer build and killed those 2 opponents. Here is a link for a zipped save made after that; extract it into your ..\Savegames\Story folder.
<snip>
The save wasn't right at that location, though, so it may not have been the save you meant to include (the characters were in a dialogue near the start of the island, though much of it already explored).
There is another game update planned, but no ETA for release yet.
Raze
It's a way to get around the crash/bug yeah, their solution will be a patch, though I have to be honest here, they are taking their sweet time with it.
Could try the workaround mentioned above, quoted below. Annoying, but...
Lol. My twin in name and avatar.
I mildly spammed ESC when it was the thing's turn, during the attack's trajectory and no crashes
