Lucian was retconned to be the main character of Divine Divinity, and Braccus appears in D:OS1, though he doesn't really do anything important in that game. Overall, the two most important games in the series to play are D:OS2 and Divinity II, as they cover all of the important lore from the series, though from a gameplay perspective, most of the Divinity games are good fun to play.
There is, Divinity Fallen Heroes is the direct sequel to DoS 2 and picks up shortly after the "Canon" ending.
Which one ? I am not sure actually, wiki says its the "sacrifice" one but there is source everywhere again so either its true and the "grand source sacrifice" was all for nothing or the true ending is something we couldnt even select.
Fallen Heroes in on halt and havent been released but there is a trailer of it on YT.
I sincerely doubt Fallen Heroes will ever be released.
Fallen Heroes is almost certainly canned, though. Its developer dropped it while it was still unfinished, Larian opted not to take over its development because BG3's Early Access was right around the corner, and it runs on the outdated Divinity Engine 3, which has already been eclipsed by BG3's Divinity Engine 4. Some aspects of the game might get recycled for the next Divinity game, but the game in its current incarnation is almost certain never going to see the light of day.
WITH THAT SAID, you don't need to play Dragon Commander, which took place before any of them in the timeline, to understand DOS 1 or 2.
