is it common to lose interest?
i enjoyed the game and took a break in the middle of act 2 cause it started to feel too much like a chore. got back into it and stopped again because they main story is literally nonstop fetch quests. i read up on reviews and discussions and it seems fairly common but they lost interest sooner. am i just not playing it properly? i played for 120 hours and still haven't gotten the ending. i don't really care about it anymore. im on act 3. am i close to beating it? the ending is pretty much all im grinding for atp

I heard it was 1 of the greatest games ever made.... so i tried it. It is good and even fun with alot of great mechanics but hard to stay with after act 2, for me at least but everyone is different.

I went back to D4, Ive played WarTales and The newest Alien game but couldnt pick a fav tbh.

Basically play w/e you find fun now, it might last it might not, an old fav might get an update who knows or Divinity 3 might come out and suck you back into that world.

Just have fun and dont feel guilted to play anything your not fully enjoying.

Sure. If you lost interest in the game its fine.

It is not so unusual. If you look at the achievements, the percentage of people who even got the 2nd source point is 33%, which you can get early in the Driftwood area. And it goes down pretty fast. Ok, there are more platforms, but I think the percentage will be not much different. And many people buy games and never play them.

I am still in my first playthrough and started the next chapter on Nameless Isle with 151 hours. And I am not sure if I get into the mood to proceed soon.

I do not think it is a bad game, but loosing interest in this game is not uncommon.

Fort Joy and Reaper's Coast are the largest chapters in the game. Compared to them are Nameles Isle and Arx very small if I look at the maps on mapgenie. But Arx seems to have lot of NSC's.

Life's too short to play games you don't like. This is a well-regarded game, but it may not be for you, and that's okay.

I thought it was an interesting game and mechanics, by-passing locked doors without a lockpick, etc... Too few character development points for you to succeed in convos. and other things. Got to the point where my party leaves and I continue alone (was under the impression I won their loyalty), they come back to the ship as ghosts, no longer usable, the merc. you get is not enough for you to beat the final battle AND he turns against you also. Mine beat my main char., call it what you will, untested bad play. A bit more wokie than Dragon Age 3 - "Lich is good", "Good gods are Evil", "Elves are Cannibals". Etc... Then I tried a new char. but lost interest before Act 3. There are places that are impassible, and quests without clues (not as bad as Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, though).
This is another crap game I will not re-visit.

Wow, you made an impressive number of gameplay blunders.

"Elves are cannibals" is "woke"? Jesus.

Oooo, an unironic use of the word "woke!" So edgy. You must be cool IRL.

IMO, this game has so many flaws and strengths that I understand losing interest at different points and then wanting to play again. I’m at the Nameless Isle right now and I’m going to finish the game because there’s enough good about the game that I enjoy. But I’m simultaneously baffled by how so many considered DOS2 to be the best modern CRPG (before BG3 released). Personally, I think other CRPGs like Wasteland 3 and Shadowrun: Hong Kong are significantly better.

DOS2 is great if you love the combat. The story is just ok and the characters, while well liked, dont really get much time to shine. It's all fighting fighting fighting and if you get tired of that it's reasonable to quit. Just know that this game is notorious for being almost impossible to get back into after a break. Ask anyone here how many more time's they've played through fort joy than the rest of the game.

people call literally anything they don't like ''woke''

Waiting for people to start calling bosses ''woke'' instead of ''badly designed'' when they die to them
You know full well what they mean when they say woke💀 besides, that’s irrelevant to the topic

The main quests are very seldom fetch quests. You can skip most of those if you don't like them. These are the actual main quests (spoiler free)

Main quests in act 1: escape fort, kill boss

Main quests in act 2: pick any 2 of the below: kill skeleton, talk to bad lizard, kill said bad lizard, fetch stuff for elf dude, kill boss/escort quest for some hentai character, rescue elf from mercenary camp, save a idiot and his teacher.
Or ignore all that and kill every single one of the main NPC of each of the above quests, that gets you to act 3 too.

Main quest in act 3: get into school (pick one: find back entrance, kill boss, talk down another boss, or visit all shrines), fight for the school cup.

Main quest in act 4: pick 1: fetch stuff from shop keeper to cheat a test or game the system by hiring an innocent to pass the test for you. Then get through a couple puzzles, then kill boss.

I've had the game for several years. Have about 400 hours in playing the game and have never gotten even half way through Reaper's Coast. There are just way too many side quests and no clear main quest guidelines. For me, that lack of a clear main goal turns playing the game into a boring task and not a fun experience.

I know I'm resurrecting this thread, but I came here trying to figure out why I lost interest in the game once I got to Reaper's Coast. And you response is exactly how I felt.

There are so, SO many quests, that my ADHD brain just got drowned in the sheer number of them all. And the more I did the quests that I assumed didn't have much interest with the main quest, the more I kind of completely stopped caring about the main quest.

I loved Fort Joy. I did every single quest, because even though some of them weren't technically about escaping, they still prepared me for escaping.

Then I got to Reapers Coast and suddenly it felt like I was playing an open world RPG, where the main quest was soon forgotten by running around for hours doing other quests. And suddenly I just stopped playing. Couldn't pick it up anymore. Stopped having fun.

I'm hoping Baldurs Gate 3 isn't like that, lol. going to try that next.

after the big escape from fort joy driftwood is just boring
the escape is like the end of the whole plot
the game could just end there
to short then ok
