"Traders Restock Every Hour"?
I've heard that traders restock every hour, but I have a couple questions about this.

Does it happen on the hour at the In-Game Time displayed on the Savegame Info page, or when the Save Game's default name is "(Zone) - Xh-00m"? Because the two are very different!
(I'm guessing its not Real-Time hours, because that could be abused.)

Secondly, does this only affect NPCs with the "Trader" tag?

When you open a shop, the game rolls the stock right there and sets a 60 minute timer for those items to remain in the shop. An hour after you first opened the shop, the shop is cleared and waits to be opened again, thus restocking and starting another 60 minute timer. Each shop has its own timer so shops dont restock together.

One exception is on level up. When you level up, all timers are cleared and all shops are ready to restock.

The timer only runs when the game is running so saving the game and closing pauses the timer.

If you want to keep cycling items, keep the game running and check all merchants one after another in the same order every hour. Or you could time a save game like a minute before a reset and keep reloading the save and get a new stock until you get something you want.

Whoa, more complicated than I thought! No wonder I wasn't getting restocks when I expected!

Thank you very much!

A question I now have: Does the timer run while the Menu is open? (Esc key that prevents playtime from ticking.)

I would assume that if the game is paused and isnt progressing (npcs arent walking around), then the timers are paused as well.

Thanks!

It also resets when you level up as the game needs to allow you to get new gear for that level. If you know the shop is about to reset on the timer and want to get consumables and such, you can purchase some then level up real fast and go get more.

Hm, I saved after I bought from Nebora and the in-game time was Day 1 about 23 hours. At Day 2 about 1 hour 25 minutes she still hasn't restocked. Is something wrong?

Thanks, never thought of doing it that way.

Not sure what game time you’re referring to, but the timer only counts unpaused real time passing. Sounds to me like you were just a few moments away from a restock with some loss on account of being in menus to save and whatnot.

In-game time as referred to in the Savegame Info.

But I just did some testing. It seems that in-game time is faster.

1 minute real time = 5 minutes in-game time.

Seems I need to wait 5 hours of in-game time before they restock, if I'm using that as a marker.

And in-game time = unpaused real-time, so its easy to use that way.

Yeah, it’s one hour real time. Some people suggest waiting til just before it resets, then making a save and just reloading the save over and over if you don’t get items you like.

I've done that with the first encounter with a vendor.

Thing is, it seems you need to do something different to get a different roll/stock. Like opening a barrel. I'm pretty sure it has to be one you haven't opened yet.

aka Do something that causes a roll to change the roll on the vendor's stock. Otherwise the roll will be the same if you reload the save and just check again.

Though you need to change up what different rolls you do if you want to keep doing that with the same save.
