Help with the Seeds of Power Quest Act 2

As above im hoping someone can give me a quick run down how to handle the seeds of power quest. All the guides for it online are based on having met the elf lady in act 1, getting the spore ability from eating the magister etc but I missed that part. Act 2 is the first time im meeting her and Im not sure how/if to move forward with it and get the set of gear.
The only thing Ive got now, is her telling me to go to the black pits. Can I just go there, read the note and get the spells, somehow get the curiass or whatever part is over there, then come back and somehow do I get all the other pieces? Do i need to fight her to get the rest of the set?

You can get the full set in act 4 regardless of what you do

You can collect the pieces one at a time or all at once in the last act. The Cuirass is in the Black Pits area and is easy to get though.

I dont really know how youre supposed to get them thats the thing. I know I can learn the spell from the paper, and cast the spell on someone and ill get the cuirass, do I need to do that to a bunch of other people to get the other pieces?

The chest one you get off magisters, it has nothing to do with the elf. Just find them over in the Black Pits area.

When you fight the boss at the end of the quest, the pieces you are missing drops. Honestly, I don't know if she can be there since I kill her in act 2 anyway, or if she always gets replaced by the magister researcher.

I’ve never seen it, but I’m pretty sure she can be at the last act.

ok thanks mate. So basically if I just do nothing, not even find the spell notes in act 2, dont bother talking with her, or even bother getting the chest piece at the black pits, all I have to do is find whatever the boss is arx, then ill get it all?

Yes. Although having the spore spell is useful in the boss fight as it is a knockdown that pierces armor against the boss and adds.
