Level 12 - Stuck between Mordus & Jonathan
I've found myself at rather an impasse; first playthrough and I chose Tactician, which is proving surprisingly difficult, but I've powered through thus far. Now however, I am well and truly stuck. The big encounters I have available are Mordus, Jonathan, and that group of magisters just before Jonathan. In all cases, there are simply too many of them for me to keep up.

I have a few side quests I'm trying to figure out like the elven ritual & puzzle site, plus that lost kid in town center. However, I don't think that will be enough XP, nor do I feel that 1 more level would make a difference here. Mid-combat resurrection has proven futile; even with buffing, the recently risen gets focus-fired back into the ground in a single turn.

As an aside, copious amounts of reloading has taught me to check NPC levels/resistances & area positions before I get into dialogue range, so I have usually have a good setup beforehand. My last effort is going to be using the void-buffed herbs, then try to focus down Mordus and hope that his goons are freed of his control. That said, any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey :)

Ok, about your questions:

That's actually weird, at level 12 you should be able to clear the Wrecker's cave and defeat Mordus, closing Shadow over Driftwood quest. Don't go to Blackpits yet, the fight with Jonathan can be... kida frustrating if you are unprerpared. get as many Bless spells as you can, I found them to be very helpful during this fight. You don't have to kill this group of magisters if you have high enough persuasion. I believe 5 is enough at this point.

About the lost kid. Do you have an elf in your party? Maybe a shaprshifting mask then? If so go the the coast where you first landed, you will find a shark there. Kill the shark to deprive it out of her misery and eat the leg that she will drop. Mystery solved.

For your level I would recommend doing "A Bridge Over Troubled Waters" and then the graveyard area. You can find the bridge right before Driftwood. Instead going into town, simply turn aside, talk to the boy, rescue his mother, easy XP. Graveyard area should be relatively easy as well. Get the Ryker encounter, check the crypts and so on.

There are a couple of easy quests in Driftwood, for example the "Missing Magisters" and "Strange cargo". I forgot what they are called, but you get the idea :D

I don't know what mode you are playing, but check out this guide, it might be helpful:

Good luck! ^__^

Annelia already said a load of useful things, so i thought id just add one more tip. Do you have a custom charakter in your party? If so, their source skill (dome of protection) is basicly godmode. Group everyone together, cast that and youre basicly invincible for 5 turns, and after it runs out, just one more turn of waiting and you can cast it again.

One suggestion for how to easily kill Mordus:

Even with no sneaking skill you can sneak your way to the little raised platform that has a hatch in it. From there you can teleport Mordus from where he patrols up onto that platform.

It will take any of the other mobs in the area 3 turns to reach the ladder up to where you are, or after two turns they will attack with ranged abilities on their 3rd turn.

You should be able to beat down Mordus by ganging up on him in that amount of time. And as long as none of your characters is killed during those 3 turns, Mordus will not be able to change into his 2nd form because he needs a corpse to do it.
I appreciate the info :) With a bit of skill adjustment, Mordus went down in short order. I still had a couple characters with points in off-stats due to gear requirements that were no longer needed >.< Organizing my pots & scrolls helped as well.

I got close to finishing off Jonathan by setting up Holy Fire, but then the primordials used their super-fire and wiped out my advantage. The aforementioned magister group still wrecks me, as does Roost, but I'm making a little progress at least. I know I could duck the magisters, but for RP I want to take them down. I failed the first persuasion and made the second.

Last time I was at the graveyard, I met a dog who summoned a death machine, lol. I flagged that area to avoid it. Will definitely look around there a bit more though.

Edit: I'm running Ifan Ranger (me), Lohse (enchantress), Beast (Cleric 2H), and Prince (sword & board tank).

Nice, congrats! ^__^
Yes, you need to keep the gear up tp date sharp unless it has an extremely good stats for a specific party member.

Yeah, that fight is a yikes >__< First time my teammate and I encountered it, that was insane, we spent so much time on it. However, Ifan and Lohse should be able to shoot them from the very top and when they come closer, then you can melee them with Red Prince and Beast. Personally I find it much more challenging to keep Gwydion alive, as the dude keeps running through necrofire and out of the dome constantly. Also, when everything starts being on fire and there are no small voidlings that might jump to you - create a holy fire over all blackpits, it looks AWESOME and also helps a lot.

When you kill the dog, summon will disappear, so concentrate on a dog for sure.

Talk to Tarquin on the graveyard, he'll give you a nice quest.

Lone Wolves encounter should be easier since you have Ifan in the party, he grants you a free access to the camp. Make sure to cast Spirit Vision over there, there are some interesting and sad stories to encounter. But don't start the Roost fight until you are level 14 or so. Same as with the magisters who have Black Ring prisoners. The whole Dwarven quest, interactions with Lohar and hos quests should give you some ice XP. Have you been to the Mordus basement and talked to his prisoner?

What else.... ah, there is a nice little quest right before the troll bridge. I believe it's a mean troll, Grog. Follow the little blood trail and cast spirit vision. Profit :D
