Solved: Shadow Prince and Sebille (spoilers)

I think I've done some things out of order, and missed a critical dialogue opportunity with Sebille. I'm trying to keep her in my party, and hopefully there's a way to do that. I've researched a little on this topic, but could use some tips from veterans. I'm not playing as Sebille, but she is an important part of my party.

I missed Sebille's dialogue where she teaches you a song, so I can't use that to help in the Shadow Prince encounter.

Before meeting the Shadow Prince, I spoke to the Mother Tree who asked me to collect SP's head. After leaving the tree, Saheila asked me to kill the Mother Tree (like, damn, really? Odd change of heart but ok maybe later?)

So:
Can I simply leave Sebille on the boat while I go kill Shadow Prince?
Can I bring someone else in her place to help with the fight?
Should I just avoid SP and do as Saheila asked? (Kill the tree, move on with my life)
Is there another opportunity to learn Sabille's song?

I guess I don't understand why the tree needs to die for the future of elvin kind.. SP says the elves are planning to use it to practically dominate the rest of the races.. I'm probably misunderstanding something. I shouldn't play this game so late in the evening/early morning :P

Been while, so I don't remember everything. However, I usually kill the tree. Hard to say really, but I generally kill both the tree and the SP as both are just power vacuums that'll be better off gone... Since I wanna be the ultimate power vacuum with divinity.

Can you not initiate dialogue with Sebille now? I had that happen once but reloaded to a save right before the fight and just talked to her then and it covered what I needed for the song

Thinking about it, yeah.... The song is a side dialogue you have just by talking to Sebille. As far as I know, you can't just miss it unless your relationship with her is really low...

Hmm.. Well I did load back to before the fight, and went through every dialogue option available. I didn't see anything about a song. I've read elsewhere that this is a common problem. I read that once you reach the Forgotten Isle, you have about 30 seconds (maybe hyperbole) where Sebille has the ! above her head. If you miss this, you won't have another opportunity to learn the song. This seems pretty weird that a crucial part of her story would be so easy to miss. Again, this is just what I've read, so I can't say it's fully true.

Not sure about that as I vaguely remember having the conversation with her in different places. Though I believe that this is only a question of killing the SP hmm? If so, keeping her out of range might well be enough to avoid the issue. If not, just dropping her from the party for a bit would work. You can hire a merc to fill the spot if you like, though it might not be needed.

I think I'm going to try doing just that. A 3 person team can probably handle SP. I just hope Sebille will be around when I get back. Also, bummer that she'll be behind on XP.

She won't be behind on XP. As soon as you recruit someone into your party, they are boosted to your XP level. There's a common issue in act 1 where you'll get ahead of your companions by 1000 xp and it can be resolved simply by dismissing and recruiting them again. Since her leaving the party should only be because of the scripted fight, you should be able to avoid it being an issue simply by keeping her out of the fight entirely.

When I did it, I didn't have a question mark above her head. I just exhausted all the dialog options and eventually she sat me down and told me her story then I got the song. I don't think I had talked to her since the beginning of the game.

I was able to keep Sabille alive and complete the 'Prime' chapter of her story.

Kick Sabille from the party and kill the Shadow Prince, then collect his heart. Return to the Lady Vengeance to pick up Sabille. Return to the Mother Tree and turn in the heart

What happens in the Shadow Prince fight if your MC is Sebille?

As far as I understand, the issue is that there are two diffirent dialogs you have to perform.

1st one is the story about the "Master and the scar", how terrible it was etc. I believe you can perform it once the Sebille's attitude to your hero is high enough, and after several other dialouges about her past have done.

2nd is the exactely when Sebille teach you a song. And in my understanding this dialouge is only available when you hear the tune right at the spot - when you approaching the Shadow Prince. A few steps before entering the circle temple (or what is this place), when you hear the tune, Sebille says that she cannot go anyfurther, better for her to get out of here, otherwise SP will take control again.
No claim marks or anything I've noticed. Just a Sebilles statement once you hear the tune.

If you have 1st dialouge done, you can now talk to Sebille once again, and there will be additional option to ask about the song.
If you havn't done the 1st dialouge, you can have it now, but when it ends, there is no option to ask about the song! Just the general "what next" option. And in contrary to her recent announcement about gettiing our she will just tell you general phrase "let's find the Master".
I guess you need to finish the dialouge, and then try to ask her another time.
But to be on the safe side I would advise to perform all the possible dialouge options before getting close to the temple and hear the tune.

Just did this. I had my party on the land bridge just outside the area with the Shadow Prince. I had my character speak with Sebille and she told me about the scar. Then I removed her from the party and had the other 3 go down and speak to the Shadow Prince. After he gave me the death fog box, I could see that Sebille had an exclamation point over her head. I spoke to her again and she told me about the song. Then I had her re-join the party and we fought the Shadow Prince together.

I never knew about the song until finding this thread while wondering what the heck I'm supposed to do with Sebille. In my case I think it was a two part problem.

1) When I first approached the shadow prince, getting the message Sebille didn't want to contnue, I hadn't talked much to her, so I don't think I was ready to hear the song at that time.

2) Sebille wears the vulture armor, which makes the exclamation mark very hard to see even when it later perhaps triggered when I moved around SP. Now I went to the place where I got the message about Sebille not wanting to continue, and even when knowing to look for it, I barely saw the exclamation mark triggering. But it did, so I could talk to her and learn the song.

Had this sebile's conversation about song in act 3 right when we land on insland, but your attitude was quite high 85+. Come to shadow prince without her, with red prince, speek, then with her , she will make shadow prince almost usless. Like this you will get all dialongs
