Slay jonathan, then tell Gareth to take the time he needs
I got this to, but in a different way. In the shack I asked him to spare Jonathan. I later found Gareth digging graves, he asked me to investigate after he killed the silent monks in the house.
I killed Jonathan at the Blackpits. I came back to the house, used spirit view to talk to Gareths parents ghosts - they confirmed Jonathan ordered the slaying and I just told Gareth throught dialogue (then I showed the ring to prove he was dead already)
I wonder.. Had I not killed Jonathan at the blackpits, could Gareth have helped in the fight? Would have been needed as it was very tough, did it without source vampirism.
I was about to travel to the nameless isle, but Milady adviced I solved the Gareth thing first.
