Can you make a custom character after you start the game

So basically my group of friends want to play 4 player co-op but one guy won't be able to be able to play till after we start. I just wanted to know if he could make a custom character after he would join in.

No. That player will only be able to play as a companion you recruit. You can *kinda* make a custom character by hiring a mercenary on the ship of the race/gender the player wants, then customizing that, but it isn't quite the same as you won't have background Tags like Noble, limiting dialogue options.

You could use the magic mirror in Fort Joy to customize a premade character.

There is a way if your friend can tell the host what they want - the host should open a second proccess of the game from the local folder (dos2 -> view local files -> DefEd -> bin -> EoCApp), and join the session with that. They can then create a custom character that will stick around with the party. This should be done during character creation, of course
