These might explain the times in which you had a surface accidentally cursed or blessed.
Good luck!
Act One, Fort Joy:
Collar Removal: You can use your first source point once your collar is removed, either by beating the Fort Joy Arena and then talking to the blacksmith, or by talking to the two dwarves in the Seeker camp.
Filling Source: You can then fill your source either by stepping into Source puddles, using the Source fountain in the Armory/Decrepit Ruins, using the Purge skill, or by consuming soul jars.
Bless Spell: You get the bless skill from interacting with statues of the Seven located in one of several locations.
Act Two, Driftwood:
More Source Points: You can gain up to 2 more Source Points by completing one of the seven quests related to the Powerful Awakening quest.
Curse Scrolls: You can craft curse scrolls using Source Orbs, which I believe you can acquire for the first time during this act. If you don't want to look up the recipe online, you can find it in a certain evil NPC's hidden basement lair bookshelf.
Act Three, Nameless Isle:
Curse: If you make a pact with the God King (requires undead character I think), you get the Curse spell instead of Bless.
Casting curse on any surface will get you a cursed surface
Big issue i have with the game is that you get bless pretty earlier but, Curse is pretty much non-existent outside of scrolls... and only 1 way to get curse in the entire game and it's super limited... to the point of being unattainable.
So yea don't put to much thought into it... you probably wont be using curse often if at all so dont expect necrofire or acid to often outside of select skills.
I did get a ring that gave the curse ability.
Yeah but it’s far more likely to get a cursed surface just through normal combat. In my first play through I was getting cursed blood and necrofire all over the place but didn’t realize that holy fire was even a thing until my second play through.
