Isbeil's Doomsday Machine?
What's the difference if I destroy the machine, or release the deathfog to the sea?

You can destroy it? We just left it there.

Yeah, you can click the valve and you will be given a choice.

I chose the option to destroy the machine. It starts leaking deathfog into the sewers and you have to leave. Don't forget to "rescue" Queen Justinia first - it might kill her (I don't know because I "rescued" her first, though she's badas* and rescues herself, you just need to get close to trigger it).

But this way it saves the city. I didn't release it into the sea because I'd rather it kill those thief kids and trolls in their sewer hideout than go into the sea and kill innocent fishies. Fishies don't deserve to get deathfogged, all they do is swim around in the sea and go bloop bloop. But those kids steal things, and they tricked a poor Dwarf into getting himself killed in Kemm's basement so they could steal his painting. And if anybody stumbles into their hideout they get their trolls to crush them. They're ruthless.

Did you not see the shores around Driftwood? There's no fishies anymore, they're all voidwoken.

On the whole saving Justinia thing... Be sure to clear out any deathfog nearby where she rescues herself and meets you. If not, you might just watch her charge off right into the deathfog willingly.

I had no way of clearing it though. She was still at Kemm's house later so all's good.

(actually Fane's whirlwind would've cleared it but for some reason I always forget I have it)

Anyone know if releasing the fog to the ocean will kill the Kraken?
Is there any consequence to releasing it to the ocean?
FWIW I released it into the room. Apparently the NE corner of the room, as well as all of Isbeil's Lab and the room where you first meet Justinia and Isbeil are all "safe" from the deathfog, so you can go back down after it's done spreading and tornado/whatever it away. If you try to do this earlier it will keep spreading at its leading edges until it gets to its natural end.
